AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
So pretty much GWS would use their first pick - perhaps #9/10 on Hopper and then Collingwood's first (#14 that they give them for Treloar) for Kennedy. Pies would probably need to give them a player as well for Treloar. Leaving Aish for us? Might depend on how high up we finish. Doubt we'd give up #4 for Aish, but we might give up #7 or #8, especially if we could engineer getting their second rounder in return. If we manage to lure Aish or Weller, I'd definitely grab Mathieson. Our recruiting team would have a much better idea of where his game is at but I was concerned by D Tucker's decision-making throughout the Champs games I watched. Seemed nervous, fumbly and didn't have the composure he had last year.
Hopper top 5 (I'd bid on him in the top 3), Kennedy top 10 depending on his recovery from injury.
i think we can go further back than just 2013 to have confidence in them since both started in '11.If Trout and Bains rate them, it's not a reach, couldn't care if we picked a guy nobody has heard of before as long as Elsaugh and Bains are the ones making the picks. Their last 2 years have shown they're too good to doubt.
Hopefully Marky can join those five soon.2011 looking like a beauty. Ross, Newnes, Webster and may as well include Longer.
Could well be that big-bodied tall midfielder that everyone seems to want. Listed at 189/84, but clearly a little bigger than that; I'd say more like 192/88...Hopefully Marky can join those five soon.
Pick 35 (I think) in that same draft.
didn't richo try him as a CHF at the start of the year?Could well be that big-bodied tall midfielder that everyone seems to want. Listed at 189/84, but clearly a little bigger than that; I'd say more like 192/90...
Lightning pace too.
That's my train of thought also. The performance of our recruiting team the last 3 years & seeing the attitude & spirit of the current side I'd hesitate to change a successful formula. Player's will accept us recruiting say a Treloar, but not @ $750k a year or Danger @ a million.. Their professionals & will be keen on the club landing a big fish or topping up with talent from other clubs (Membrey, Bruce, Longer, Savage etc), though at fair value in line with our developing list. We are picking gems with draft picks in the 40's such as Steven, Webster & Lonie. And why our game is the greatest sport in the world, is a champion team will always beat a team of champions..! Last year we copped ten 50 point plus hidings, whilst this year we've only had two..Very Good points, I just like how we are doing the rebuild at the minute and worried we would upset the balance if we pay Danger a $mill a year.
In the intra-club, yeah, but I think that was more a case of a lack of talls on the 'away' side.didn't richo try him as a CHF at the start of the year?
Aish to Pies is more likely than Treloar.
Kelly is the player the club I'm hoping we're heavily into & is a couple of years younger than Treloar. If Treloar was to re-sign, Kelly wouldn't want to waste another year playing NEAFL again next year, as he's behind Treloar, Ward, Shiel, Griffin, Whitfield, Coniglio, Scully, Smith & the list goes on..If we somehow managed to get Kelly and Weller this year I'd be ridiculously happy.
Definitely think we could get Aish, especially if Treloar nominates Collingwood

Any idea how he is tracking mate?Happy for him to get on the park to be honest.
Probably.
Of interest is that there were key forwards and key defenders named that may be available at later picks
Forwards - McKay, Moore
Defenders - Firns, Watson
With our first pick sliding outside the top 5...would look at Ah Chee. Exactly what we need. Acres to take him under his wing. We've got some WA representation.
Really want Bonner with our second. Really rate the guy. A Jimmy Webster clone. Deadly left foot and nice sidestep.
I've started to warm more to the idea of Balic myself, especially during the game yesterday when I was watching Heppell do some fantastic things and making time stand still, etc. He was so instrumental in so many of their 7 goals (including kicking 2 himself) that I reckon they may have barely kicked one had he not been out there and I was just sitting there thinking "if Balic's like Hepell (and he sounds like he has some similar attributes) then we could do an enormous amount worse than grab him". Even if he is slow.I think Balic would be my choice if we have a pick at about 5 to 7. I think thats about his range before he looks like overs. There is something special about the way he moves.
I keep banging on about him, but Tanner Smith still isn't getting a game for Freo, was delisted and rookied by them - which isn't exactly a vote of confidence - and is 196cm 95kg and still only 21. Is having a decent WAFL season and finally seems to have his body right.
Sure he's probably the succession plan for McPharlin, but a sneaky offer may come up trumps...
