If we manage to lure Aish or Weller, I'd definitely grab Mathieson. Our recruiting team would have a much better idea of where his game is at but I was concerned by D Tucker's decision-making throughout the Champs games I watched. Seemed nervous, fumbly and didn't have the composure he had last year.

Hopper top 5 (I'd bid on him in the top 3), Kennedy top 10 depending on his recovery from injury.
So pretty much GWS would use their first pick - perhaps #9/10 on Hopper and then Collingwood's first (#14 that they give them for Treloar) for Kennedy. Pies would probably need to give them a player as well for Treloar. Leaving Aish for us? Might depend on how high up we finish. Doubt we'd give up #4 for Aish, but we might give up #7 or #8, especially if we could engineer getting their second rounder in return.

If Trout and Bains rate them, it's not a reach, couldn't care if we picked a guy nobody has heard of before as long as Elsaugh and Bains are the ones making the picks. Their last 2 years have shown they're too good to doubt.
i think we can go further back than just 2013 to have confidence in them since both started in '11.

2013 and 2014 we know are both 9/10 thus far. what was weird for me was the fact we nailed the 2011 draft (most underrated drafting by us in the last 10 years) and then the next year completely missing on majority of picks in the draft before bouncing back in 13/14.

2011 rating: 8.5/10
25: ross (best 15 players going forward)
35: markworth (meh)
37: newnes (fringe best 10 going forward)
42 webster (best 10 players going forward)
60: Jay Lever (wrong lever :( )
68: Beau Maitser (shutters)
78: Jason Blake (got a brownlow vote that year so well worth it :p)
interesting aswell 2011 had delaney getting promoted and longer getting selected in the draft.

2012 rating: 1.5/10
24: wright (potential best 22 players)
25: White (who knows, i believe tho)
40: Murdoch (i dont believe but thats just me)
43: Saunders (I'm his player sponsor so potential brownlow medalist
75: Lewis Peirce (depth and wont know for a long time)
90: Dunnell (rookie upgrade now gone)

Hopefully Marky can join those five soon.

Pick 35 (I think) in that same draft.
Could well be that big-bodied tall midfielder that everyone seems to want. Listed at 189/84, but clearly a little bigger than that; I'd say more like 192/88...

Lightning pace too.

didn't richo try him as a CHF at the start of the year?

It's potentially not the right thread but it goes under list management but I just wanted to point out the players missing from today's win.

Billings
McCartin
Delaney
Hickey
Goddard
Acres
McKenzie

Obviously there are others, but I see these guys in particular as best 22 in the years to come. I suppose I just wanted to point this out to highlight how amazingly strong our list suddenly looks.

Nail this years picks, or get a gun U23 traded to us and suddenly we are pushing finals next year a year or two ahead of schedule.

Very Good points, I just like how we are doing the rebuild at the minute and worried we would upset the balance if we pay Danger a $mill a year.
That's my train of thought also. The performance of our recruiting team the last 3 years & seeing the attitude & spirit of the current side I'd hesitate to change a successful formula. Player's will accept us recruiting say a Treloar, but not @ $750k a year or Danger @ a million.. Their professionals & will be keen on the club landing a big fish or topping up with talent from other clubs (Membrey, Bruce, Longer, Savage etc), though at fair value in line with our developing list. We are picking gems with draft picks in the 40's such as Steven, Webster & Lonie. And why our game is the greatest sport in the world, is a champion team will always beat a team of champions..! Last year we copped ten 50 point plus hidings, whilst this year we've only had two..
And today we were still without Billings, Paddy, Goddard, Acres, McKenzie, Eli & Wright, who've all been pencilled in as certainties heading forward..

In the intra-club, yeah, but I think that was more a case of a lack of talls on the 'away' side.

If we somehow managed to get Kelly and Weller this year I'd be ridiculously happy.
Kelly is the player the club I'm hoping we're heavily into & is a couple of years younger than Treloar. If Treloar was to re-sign, Kelly wouldn't want to waste another year playing NEAFL again next year, as he's behind Treloar, Ward, Shiel, Griffin, Whitfield, Coniglio, Scully, Smith & the list goes on..
Would likely have to sacrifice a player with current value with our first pick..
Definitely think we could get Aish, especially if Treloar nominates Collingwood

Had an excellent debut season, but can't wait to get out of the joint looking at him running around this year..
Aish is a professional with strong football heritage, & there's something sitting not right at Brisbane for him..
A performance like today, gives more ammo to our recruiting team when in the ear of talented player's like Aish & Treloar.
After today we've leapfogged many clubs, & we're one of the most attractive clubs in the league to head to..
Would come at half the price of Treloar, & would have his best mate to play alongside with..!

I've never seen Markworth play, is there any chance that he could be an inside midfielder? And what attributes does he have to play that role?

I honestly don't know much about him, I hope he makes it. All I know is that he is lightning quick.

Key forwards at later picks don't work. You take them early or as mature ages.
Another KPD would be good though.

Probably.

Of interest is that there were key forwards and key defenders named that may be available at later picks
Forwards - McKay, Moore
Defenders - Firns, Watson

Whatever Bainsy & co cook up at season's end, i hope we're in the ear of Michael Hurley's management right now.

Hurley is a FA end of next year & would be a pretty much perfect fit for us at FB with Hugh at CHB.

Forget trading for Carlisle, get Hurley for nothing in 12 months.

Get my boy Darcy Tucker in, see if we can trade for Aish & then hit Hurley up with a big offer in 2016.

With our first pick sliding outside the top 5...would look at Ah Chee. Exactly what we need. Acres to take him under his wing. We've got some WA representation.

Really want Bonner with our second. Really rate the guy. A Jimmy Webster clone. Deadly left foot and nice sidestep.

I think Balic would be my choice if we have a pick at about 5 to 7. I think thats about his range before he looks like overs. There is something special about the way he moves.

I think we should be looking at outside mids or KPDs Ah Chee seems more a small forward and we don't want a guy that plays as a small/ midsize defender although I think Bonner is probably capable of going into the midfield.

I keep banging on about him, but Tanner Smith still isn't getting a game for Freo, was delisted and rookied by them - which isn't exactly a vote of confidence - and is 196cm 95kg and still only 21. Is having a decent WAFL season and finally seems to have his body right.

Sure he's probably the succession plan for McPharlin, but a sneaky offer may come up trumps...

I've started to warm more to the idea of Balic myself, especially during the game yesterday when I was watching Heppell do some fantastic things and making time stand still, etc. He was so instrumental in so many of their 7 goals (including kicking 2 himself) that I reckon they may have barely kicked one had he not been out there and I was just sitting there thinking "if Balic's like Hepell (and he sounds like he has some similar attributes) then we could do an enormous amount worse than grab him". Even if he is slow.

Be pretty dang happy with any of Parish (unlikely now), Mathieson, Tucker, Dunkley or Balic. Happy days.

I think we need to target a key defender that has been in the system for a couple of years. Dempster and Fisher are going to leave massive holes up back when they finish up.
