If GWS really rate Hopper and Kennedy, then it may be an opportune time to try to manufacture a trade; they need draft currency, and we are one of the few in a position to offer it. As far as whether or not they would actually be keen, I think they should capitalise on their chance to spread the age of their elite talent by another year. This will be one of their last chances to help get a better age spread, as they're on the climb, so I could see them taking "unders" on some quality players in order to get the necessary draft picks.

It's looking more and more likely Treloar leaves so they'll get the picks they need from that trade.

Why on earth would they want to keep Baguley, he's utterly useless

I wonder if Ess have ceased extending contracts until the WADA appeal has finished? They may just cut those not signed if suspensions are dished out? I wouldn't put it past that putrid mob.

What's the chances of taking someone like Henry Schade from GC. Think OOC probably still only a project player but had 3 yrs with the suns & could be coming good in a couple of years. Would expect to get him at a reasonable price?

Rahul, BS, DB, TLE and others. Perhaps more possibles for our third rounder, or earlier if we get a mid round one, but your views on:
- Parsons
- Fiorini
- Leonardis
Reckon you should put Rice in the mix there.

Skippos rates him in the top 6 kicks in pressure situations:
“Kicks from contested/pressure situations:
1. Aaron Francis
2. Will Combe
3. Harley Balic
4. Wayne Milera
5. Darcy Parish/Bailey Rice”

In Skippos’s new Phantom Draft he has us getting Rice at #29 after the Bulldogs bid on him and we match it (assumes he nominates us and we want him). It’s the alternative way to move up the draft other than trading someone out (if at all possible for the kind of pick we would want). Coincidentally, Knightmare has Rice at #29 in his power rankings.

Interestingly Skippos has Parsons at #33 and Rice at #35 in his power rankings but we wouldn’t get a pick till around #44 unless we matched the bidded pick on Rice by giving up subsequent picks if we weren’t able to trade someone out for a pick around there.

Your boys would all be gone by pick #44 anyway in Skippos’s calculations, but Knightmare only has Rice and Parsons gone by then, leaving the other two available at #44.

Rice could be a bargain for pick #29-ish and perhaps the best available for our midfield needs.

Also I don't know if this is really worth noting, but I believe I made a post last year about Gus Brayshaw in the draft thread and how his brothers were guns. Hamish is currently at the Sandringham Dragons in his bottom age year (and in the leadership group if I'm not mistaken), Andrew is playing U16s Vic Metro. Not sure about the other one. Worth keeping an eye on in years to come.

Others:
Jake Lever's brother Tyson is in his bottom age year at Calder.
Jake Owen (VFL player) has a brother in Jaidyn also playing at Calder.
Viojo-Rainbow 2.0 playing bottom age at Western.

Take Jack Leslie instead... Younger, taller, and his name is Jack ;)

Perhaps. Not my boys, just putting out a few names that looked quite good in the more skilful/but obtainable outside the top 20 category. Will be an interesting few months.

I have been to a few club events this year and usually try to get to at least one a year. I was super impressed by the character of the younger guys we have now so it's working. Paddy Mc, Daniel Mc, Billings, Sinclair etc all are fantastic people. Newnes strikes me as a future captain, so professional and mature. Even Maverick Weller who came with a few question marks over his off field demeanour is a really fantastic ambassador for us. They are all very generous with their time and respectful people. Big holmes and Paddy were at the jumper presentation early and I reckon the must have had blisters from hand shaking and signing stuff but were happy to get around everyone. Lee, Siposs and Roberton were fantastic guys too. Farren Ray is a gun too.

Great call. I took my little bloke to the Auskick clinic on Monday and the players were incredibly generous and genuine with the kids doing drills and signing afterwards. Leave your ego at the door. Nice.

Undersized key forward... Not really a high priority early in the draft, hence falling to 46

To reaffirm what I said yesterday, I wouldn't mind a pick 37 either.... Newnes & Montagna go alright too

Gilbert, Ray and Joey are good examples, they're high output players who offer leadership (the latter 2 in particular, Gilbert would only play a role). Personally I'd rather keep Joey, despite his age he is our 3rd best midfielder and on form would be GWS' 2nd best right now behind Shiel. Losing him AND a top 5 pick AND lots and lots of cap space wouldn't be worth it.

Yeah, Joey and our first would be too much for Kelly/Whitfield considering what GWS was offering for Johnson and Howe.

I'd probably prefer to keep Joey but if GC get desperate it could be pretty profitable.

It'll be interesting to see what happens this year, I'm not 100% convinced we are done trading players out and it looks like there might be an opportunity or two to cash in.
