One for the draft experts - Is Curnow going to become the big athletic mid who can swing forward in the future (as it seems to be suggested he will) or no? If he is then I'd be pretty keen with our first pick if the likes of Weitering and Parish are off the board.

your other teams section of your profile really disgust me :p

I would be shocked if a Big name shifted clubs .
I can see Dixon going , and a few swaps for draft picks going on BUT just cant see
Treloar , Dangerfield , O'Meara , Sidebottom ect..... going anywhere.
I would do back flips if we could secure 3 picks inside top 20.
Good chance Essendon , Carlton , Brisbane have the same idea too.

Dangerfield is all but gone

Be fascinating to see if the recent tragedy at the AFC has/had any impact either way on the decision.

On the one hand it might bond the team, on the other he may want want to get away from it all and get a clean break emotionally.

I've thought the same thing. I reckon his decision was made a long time ago and it won't be changed.

Have no idea whether Adam stays or goes.
Think pretty clear Collingwood are chasing him with comments the Melbourne based football recruiters
are mentioning (yes I know a couple)

1) Opportunity - play MCG every 2nd week in front of 60,000
2) Be payed significantly more $
Really can understand it myself .

Question is why are GWS supporters so paranoid about it .

Currently GWS have half an A grade team playing in the 2nds , you are going to lose some players they
will seek both opportunity And more $ elsewhere that is reality , but the system will keep talent replacing them.

Academy will keep quality kids coming .
No paranoia. I've stated on our boards that I don't mind at all if he goes.
I love hearing how many people have heard that he's gone etc. just like with Cameron, Shiel etc.

Are we still aiming for 3 picks inside 25 this year? We should just scrape in with 6 and 24 but I don't see where the 3rd could possibly come from. Short of Armo and Steven who must surely be untouchable I can't envision a package that would be worth a top 25.

the only way we can do it without an extra pick into the club is with rice being bidded on @ 25.

below also shows the flaw in this system and how to steal players with this points system, the best way to steal a f/s or academy kid is to always bid 1 pick after the teams father son just picked (unless their a concenus top 15ish pick), makes it harder to ever match unless you have extra picks stashed and i doubt many teams will be wanting to mess with future draft positions.

THE DRAFT
our own first = pick6 (balic)
our own 2nd = pick24 (some spud)
North bid using their 2nd= pick25 gets bidded on for rice he then nominates us and we match lolnorths bid.

THE MATH TO GET RICE WITH REMAINING PICKS
pick25 value = 756
minus 15% father son discount = 643

we have picks 42 and 60 that still have value in the draft as anything past 73 has a value of 0 (our next pick would pick 78 factoring in no free agency compo picks.)
42 value = 395 (pick now moved to back of draft)
60 value = 146 (pick now moved to back of draft)
=541
now saints need to use their 2016 draft to find the remaining 102.

so we would subtract the remaining 102 from our 1st round pick next year.
assuming we finish in the exact same spot as we are now (13th) and theirs no compo to get in the way we would again have pick 6.

pick 6 value= 1,751
= 1751 - 102 =1649

which would move pick 6 in 2016 to pick 7.

so the net cost of rice being bid on at 25 would be

in
rice
2015 back of draft pick around 88 mark.
2016 7th pick

out
2015 pick42
2015 pick60
2016 pick 6

to sum it up, if you want to screw a club theirs 2 ways to best do it. either bid really high like what will get done will mills and potentially dunkley and you have a chance to get them or if their not 1st round picks bid 1 pick after the teams prior pick. however in every scenario would be getting a discount theirs still some risk when you factor in losing mid round picks (which will be worth more now) and losing ground already in the 2016 draft.

as you can see i was bored this morning and wanted to prove people wrong that say we have to trade to get 3 picks inside 25 :p:p

2 problems: the discount is 20% and after pick 18 the discount is fixed at 197 points for all picks.

756 - 197 = 559 points needed

Over the rest of the season alot more kids will be fed games aka mccartin and a few others given games to gauge our final list clean up. Come our last game of the year. It will be clear what we need to take us forward and who will be cut.

My worry with balic is he might be a bigger version of toumpas aka does a few things well but nothing great come afl level. Really need someone damaging by foot!

The difference between the two would be ones at Melbourne and one isn't.

I'll back our development team in to turn him into a good player.

Toumpas is one of the worst AFL players going around, has no idea what to do off the ball and avoids contact. If Balic is anything like him...do not want.

Not a lot of damaging kicks in this draft. Below are some of the better options:

Parish....damaging run and carry game...probably gone

Tucker...damaging kick but not overly productive....a reach

Bonner....damaging kick but limited versatility to play mid....a reach

Francis....damaging by foot...might slide if we're interested

Ah Chee...damaging by foot but can't find a lot of the ball...a reach

Milera....see above

More referring to the fact his averaging 15 disposals and isn't damaging with them. Couldn't care if he sucks just pointing out that my worry with balic is that he gets the ball but I don't feel like he was damaging with it.
