Dees also coughed up pick 20 in a top draft.
using the afl points system tyson cost around pick 6 - 7.

trade

Tyson = X
9 = 1469
53 = 233

for
2 = 2517
20= 912
72= 19

GWS - DEMONS
1702 - 3448
= -1756
1756= Tysons value

So melbourne got tyson roughly for pick 6 or 7.

im not sure anyone from our board would have done that deal at all considering last year no one wanted to do 1,20 for 4,7 which would have made us bigger winners than the dees were in the tyson trade

What do we reckon in drafting

Nick O'Kearnary as our second pick (23-27)
181cm mid, ball magnet, good disposal and great decision maker
Lightly built at 71kg

But he IMO was one of the forgotten players
averaged 25.5 disposals at the National Carnival at 73% efficiency
Recruiting O'Kearnary along with a Mathieson, Balic, Parish etc. Would bolster our midfield needs

Also I think we should target Michael Talia 22yrs, 194cm, 95kg
Solid KPD would walk into the side to replace Dempster long term and can take the big man.
Hes out of contract and I'm a big fan that he can take FB for us for the next 8years.
I reckon Okearney is the player who will slide down phantoms and mock drafts but clubs will still take him in the top 15 come draft day

It's funny, people reckon we've had too many half back flankers over the last few years, but that's because a lot of them are either mids who haven't made the grade, or blokes we can't think of a genuine role for.

A really elite flanker is actually worth its weight in gold IMO. Imagine the weapon that Webster, Savage and Tucker coming off half back would be...

Still want a genuine mid, but it's food for thought.

And Roberton.".

Happy to trust recruiters who knows they might land Big...

I think it's fair to say that the recruiting team will be cooking up some tasty trades however whether they come off is another question....

As I said before best case for us will be pick 7, worst case will be pick 3, likely pick will be 4-6. Plenty of elite players to be taken then.

It's our second pick, likely 22-25. Would love Tucker to slide as some suggest - would take him and run away laughing!!! One can only hope....

Time for contingency targets, ladies and gents; if we stay (roughly) where we are now there's no way we get Parish.

I reckon you'd see:
Brisbane - Schache
GCS - Parish
Carlton - Weitering
Melbourne - Francis
Essendon - Mathieson
Us - ......?

Not set in stone that Parish falls that high. No way GC take Parish over Weitering if avail. Don't be surprised to the Weideman and Curnow feature in the top 5 with all clubs in that range really needing a key forward and I suspect them pulling the trigger considering next year is a midfield draft.

Pick 1 - Schache - Bris
Pick 2 - Weitering - GCS
Pick 3 - Francis - Carl
Pick 4 - Curnow - Melb
Pick 5 - Weideman - Ess
Pick 6 - Parish - StK

If we do miss out on Parish I would take Balic who offers a point of difference. Dunkley and Mathieson look good too however are similar to longterm options Ross and Dunstan. Balic offers something a little different through the midfield that we don't have.

Don't see why everyone is so high on Lachie Weller to the point they would trade our first pick for him.
He was a nice draftable player last year, but IMO was a reach by Freo at that pick.
He's nowhere near as talented as the onballers mentioned in this years top ten positions.

Hmmm. I heard we are into him and he's keen for greater opportunity at a new club - potentially us.

Spot on. No chance.

Good news everyone. We still have a 1% chance to make finals!

Even if we finish as high 11th or 12th is there anyway we don't get a gun mid?? I mean it's sorta handy the top 3 will be key position and we will end up with the. 3rd or 4th best mid still..

Also why does knightmare have Dunkley 35th in his power rankings? Although of the touted top 10 he's probably my last choice..

And was flicking through knightmares power rankings from last year and I'm I just missing it or did he actually not have Mckenzie and lonie on there at all???

Knighta has Dunkley at 15 in his power rankings and 35 in his phantom. He hasn't updated his phantom for some time and hasn't included the new bidding rules. Dunkley is going at the Swans 2nd rounder based off the old father son rules and his bid prediction.

Quoted from the main board but I think it is worth while discussing here:
Will be interesting to see what GC do. If they are losing Dixon do they back in Day, Wright and Lynch and take a mid/flanker type in Francis OR do they grab Weitering and shuffle things around?

Probably the most interesting pick in the top 3-4.

This actually makes a lot of sense. If we are able to target Day and get him with our second pick while Brisbane secure Dixon GC would be forced to take a tall. That would increase our chances of picking up a high quality mid. The more it looks like Dixon goes the more I think we have to be targeting Day not just because we would get Day but because of the repercussions on the draft.

Is Day good enough to hold down CHB? Ill be honest in that I havent really seen enough of him to judge and that he certainly isnt living up to the top 3 pick the Suns used on him!

Yes I am with you on this .You have talked me into it .
If you look at our midfield at the moment it is one dimensional .If you look at the midfield assembled in 2000's a little bit of everything .
Hayes Inside
Dal Santo classy delivery
Goodard utlity or mid bodied mid field er
