I assume he will be out of contact with them at the end of next year??

He nominates us as his preferred destination and we package up a player and a pick or maybe our 2nd and 3rd round pick

I think it will take a fair bit to get him and it's more unlikely with each game he plays. Maybe two years of our second rounders combined with Weller and their second rounder next year, I'd throw in a fringe player if they were keen - trying to think outside the square without giving up our first.

Stuff Freo, the way they poached Ross and subsequently Dawson, I'd take absolute pleasure in getting one back. I wasn't a huge Dawson fan, but he left us in the lurch with no full back and no room in the cap to match.

It was Weller for a second rounder, fringe player who Freo might want and a 7 or 8 pick upgrade in the second round the year after - most would see it as being in our favour sure but as I said, trying to think outside the square to get a suggestion out there not including our first rounder. O'Rourke lost his value, everyone knows Brisbane won't get back what they paid for Aish - if, and I admit it's an unlikely if, Lachie wants to play at the Saints that deal may well be as good as it gets (in b4 you say well too bad we will just hold onto him against his will and hope he gets over the homesickness).

But if you insist, we'll include Dawson in the deal for a decent contract down at Sandringham if that's going to get it over the line

its the same reason why wce didnt offer us something for cripps 12 months out. instead he left and went home and wce turned around and said here's two 3rd rounders, thats all we've got, take it or leave it.

Will get dropped next week Ross will not play him , they will turn up next week with best side.

Need to finish top to avoid the Hawks.

Body language was pretty interesting actually, really think he will come home myself.

Regardless, players are not slaves.

Victorian clubs have suffered the "go home" factor for years.

Lachie is desperate to go home and play with his brother, and his two best mates Hugh Goddard, and Paddy McCartin.

Will be in all probability in Saints colours come 2017 probably for a second round pick or we pick him up for nothing in the PSD.

Lyon is an arrogant prick who cares little for the club development and has form letting players go to other clubs for nothing so PSD to Saints in Nov 2016 a real possibility

Don't be sorry to intrude. Be sorry for suggesting a pick 13 is now worth what could well be pick 4 (at worst 6) after one preseason and one quarter of footy under his belt.

Another example you may want to use is Tom Lynch who left seeking opportunity, pick 13 turned into pick 37, or Cripps, pick 25 into 40odd. Yeo, Polec, Caddy, Longer, kids rarely keep their value if they are homesick - it's up to the club to develop them, nurture them and retain them - if they cannot do that (not something Rossco is famous for) then I'm sorry to say but expect to lose them for a lesser pick.
