Billings, Acres, Mccartin. Plus a few others who will be high level players like Goddard, Longer, Dunstan, Bruce, Lonie, McKenzie.

IMO you can tell just how highly Acres is rated by the amount of caution we take with him. We're clearly happy to take our time with him as we think he'll be amazing if we set him up right. The long contract we gave him is also a good indicator :p.

Any idea of who's seen as our future A graders?

Unsure if it's just me, but I really only hear about Mids being referred to as 'A Graders'.

Hope I'm incorrect with my opinion, but personally, I don't think we have many that fit that mould.....yet. Billings can't seem to get through a season without being injured. Dunstan is a BULL, could become one. Every Saint supporter is hoping that Blacres can live up to the hype and become one, but hasn't seen too many games as yet. Outside of mids, I think Longer (Ruck), Lonie (Small Forward) & Goddard (CHB) could be amongst the top few in their position in the league in the future. You'd hope Paddy will too. Just my opinion. And from left field, I'd love to think Markworth could make it, but he's in the same bracket as Billings/Acres (injured/barely sighted).

Acres is rated that high internally?

Very much. He was always going to take time but he is ridiculously talented. I personally think he'll be looked back on as a top 5 talent from his draft. Hopefully supporters can get a glimpse of what he can offer in this last part of season.

He seems to move in slow mo whilst going flat out and find the ball quite easily. Look forward to watching him on the weekend!

I wonder when Joey was ever looked at as a potential a grader.
That's what I was going to touch on as well. I've got very little doubt about Billings, Acres and McCartin but I'm sure there's a few that will surprise.

I reckon Lonie, McKenzie, Sinclair, Dunstan and Bruce will all hover around A grade level with a couple actually getting there. Even Newnes could slowly but surely get there.

Already had that glimpse @ Sandy, or more to the point, at Frankston a couple of times this year. Time stands still around him, just like it used to with Dal and does with Pendles. I almost feel like it's a Matrix scenario with him, he is the 'one' who can do things others can't, but he just doesn't know it yet. :p

I've heard a few times that the general feeling is that the drug saga happened so long ago now and they've been playing ever since the suspensions will be backdated it's more so about the guilty verdict and the label of drug cheat or innocent

Billings is going to be a gun. I went to the intraclub at the start of the year and he was doing the drills with the mids. He was so clean and classy and kept finding the ball, when he did get it he set up the forward crew with every kick. I saw the future and it's going to be a good one for jack. Look the best of the group he was with which included starting 22 players. He has the most X factor of any of the kids so far.

Acres was so shy last year it was painful to talk to him, he looked a great size but hardly looked like he'd started shaving yet- he was also injured at the start of last year. He looked physically the right age but he seemed like the type who would take a while. This preseason he seemed like he was a lot more confident and secure in himself but still quiet and reserved. I think he is the type who will take a few years but he was a very highly rated kid and should come on at some point if the body holds up.

It's the opposite. When they started playing again it reset the earliest possible time for backdating to their last match.

tbh, Acres hasn't shown us enough that he will be an A-grader. People have to calm down. Whereas Billings, McCartin, Longer, Lonie, Dunstan, Goddard, Sinclair and maybe Bruce have shown more than Acres already in my opinion. I hope Acres plays for the rest of the season, and let's hope that he shows us why he will be a future A-grader. The potential is there, but has to show more.

you have to get ahead of the curve. similar to mcevoy and stanley. if everyone sees it then you dont get an advantage
We traded McEvoy because we could see Hickey had moved last him. I'd also suggest we were co fident in securing Longer. McEcoy was gherefote surplus to our needs.

I'm not even sure it was that clear. It was clear that Hickey was good enough for where the team was at the time, and McEvoy was worth too much to pass up the trade. I'm not convinced we were chasing Longer until after the McEvoy trade.

Careful Aunty, last time I suggested we may be overrating Acres a little I was almost shot.

He will be a good player for the club, but I wouldn't have him in the same class as Billings, McCartin or even Lonie. Needs to improve his skill and decision making a lot in the next few years if he's to get there.

On the Carlisle for first round, I am pretty sure Richo and others in the club have publicly said that no1 priority this draft are quality midfielders.
but but heres in the age bracket apprently

:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

Acres will be the best of our youngsters but i'm biased.

As for Carlisle, under the current regime:
1. We refused to trade 25 for Bruce and held out until the last minute until GWS relented on 48
2. We refused to trade 18 for longer and held out until Brisbane took 25
There is zero chance pick 5 will be involved in a conversation for Carlisle. Z ****ing ERO.
