Seriously is it possible that Carlton would get pick 2 as compensation for Kreuzer. That's as stupid as someone wanting to pay him $700k a year and sign him for more than a month.

We don't need to offer sweeteners, Essendon are a trainwreck and they know it.
I'm a little confused then as to who who we are looking to get and how .. We have plenty of money but don't want to pay overs to aquire anyone and anyone with a blemish ( bennell has more than blemishes) is seen as a risk due to character . What happens when our young players get good and want more money than we think they are worth do we just let them go.. It seems we are a little gutless and not taking any gambles at all .. I'm
Not saying put both balls on the chopping block but 1 is a start

Whilst I now think it is incredibly unlikely (almost bordering on the impossible) that players will be suspended, I recognise it is a consideration.

Genuinely interested to see how this one plays out; IMO a real opportunity to get a very talented player, and for Essendon to secure some early draft pick/s.
Agree. I think they deserve a good wack but there will be all sorts of backdating it will be six weeks max. All they want is the guilty plea.

Honestly I don't know why people complain about free agency compensation so much. This is the exact reason it's here for. A shit team losing one of their best players (well when he's fit at least) so they get a good pick to help fast track their way to the top.

Interestingly, I was at a presentation night last night where Bomber Thompson spoke. He was extremely open, and honest with his answers.
He expressed so much anguish and hatred for Essendon because of they way they treated their staff, and their players. Through-out the whole supplement saga, the club not once apologised to the players or staff and simply focused on clearing their name. Not once have they considered the wellbeing of their players.
I'd hate to be a player at the Essendon FC right now, and getting Carlisle would be a huge coup as in the right environment where he is treated with respect, I don't doubt that he can become a huge piece to our next tilt.

My view of trading with Essendon will be forever tainted with the Lovett deal. Hird and Sheedy gave him the thumbs up, and he stayed true to form and never played a game for us. Plus he further tainted our name at a time when we didn't need it.

If AFL clubs are trying to do the right thing by each other by not marching players to the pre-season draft, then Essendon owe us one.

How did the Ball to Collingwood one go down again?
