Aish/Kelly and Carlisle, now that's a successful off season. If we give up pick 5 which is possibly pick 7 for that haul I'd take it. Ideally id still like a shot at a top 20 talent in the draft - but beggars can't be chosers because we are probably still odds on to miss all three despite our best efforts.

I hope our we're in the ear of Scharenburg's manager telling him we can meet his financial needs. If the Pies are tabling a massive offer at Treloar, targeting Aish and Kruzer, then someone has to be tipped out, and I'd hope we could swoop.

:thumbsu::thumbsu:
This is where we need to be creative. Something like:

Pick 5, Pick 25 & Brodie Murdoch -> Adelaides Pick 12,13 & 33

Trade Pick 13 & 43 -> Essendons Pick 24 & Carlisle

walk away with Pick 12, Pick 24, Pick 33 & Carlisle

Values Carlisle at 1000 points - or Pick 16

I don't mind this as a starting point. Maybe some steak knives to Adelaide?

It's not 100% but it's a good start IMO :thumbsu:

Are we not forgetting the Carlisle has this thing called WADA to overcome.
He may not be able to play for 2 years or 1 year if suspension is back dated.
Are we that stupid to go near this bloke. I wanna see Essendone get the book thrown at them
which means heavy suspensions for any player suspecting or unsuspecting gets e.g. What Saad coped.
Yes on paper he would look great locked in KPD spot but it could blow up in our face if things go pear shaped.
I´m surprised this hasn't been really discussed on here.

Mark Robinson, now there is a first rate flog. He is genuinely hated by most people in the AFL industry, from players to coaches to managers to h ad quarters to his own fellow journo's.

Boofhead Hutchison is worse. Must be something about fat flogs in the media

Honestly I don't know why people complain about free agency compensation so much. This is the exact reason it's here for. A shit team losing one of their best players (well when he's fit at least) so they get a good pick to help fast track their way to the top.

Agreed.

I just think they need to find medium ground for losing guys that aren't elite. Sure it helps the club at the bottom, but when there are clubs that are also rebuilding that are pushed down the pecking order because the club below loses an okay player it doesn't seem fair. I think the pick should come straight after every side that hasn't made the eights first pick.

I like the concept of FA but I think the compensation needs to be based on the player moreso than the contract.

My view of trading with Essendon will be forever tainted with the Lovett deal. Hird and Sheedy gave him the thumbs up, and he stayed true to form and never played a game for us. Plus he further tainted our name at a time when we didn't need it.

If AFL clubs are trying to do the right thing by each other by not marching players to the pre-season draft, then Essendon owe us one.

How did the Ball to Collingwood one go down again?

I'm not sure why people continue to bring up the pre season draft when Carlton have the first pick.

Judd, Henderson, Kruezer, Carrazzo, Yarran? Bell. They'll have plenty of space and they have proven before that they are willing to take a player that does not nominate them (Nick Steven)

Can just see it now....

With all our efforts to be 'nice' & not 'burn bridges' with other clubs last year when WE had pick 1 in the PSD, I can just imagine a campaigner club like Carlton will manage to get Carlisle for free in the PSD this year....

The thing is this... Carlisle is a gun and young, only 22. We'll have to give up a fair bit to get him. It will involve our first pick I have no doubt, and maybe an upgrade on our 2nd and 3rd rounders. That's my hunch. I think we'll get him though, and essentially I think it's smart even giving up the first round pick. Essentially, pick 5 is no guaranteed gun. Carlisle is proven.

i'm scratching my head at the Kruezer -> Collingwood one...

1). Heaps of clubs looking for a #1 ruckman...yet Kruezer chooses Collingwood where he'll be #2 behind Grundy (assuming Witts leaves)

2). Collingwood already have Witts, and on a relatively low wage i'd imagine. Why trade him out, and then pay $600,000 x 4 years for a #2 ruckman?

If Witts has requested the trade, then that makes things a little different, but i haven't seen any mention of it.

How good would it be if we could reunite Scharenburg, Aish and Dunstan together.

Completely agree. While I don't usually like to throw up hypothetical trades, given how 99.95% likely they are not not eventuate, what do people think about giving up pick 5 for Carlisle and Aish? If, for example, we gave pick 5 to Adelaide in exchange for 12 and 13, and gave those picks to Brisbane and Essendon for the 2 aforementioned players, would people be happy with that?
Considering Aish would have been worth about pick 5 alone after last year and Carlisle would have been a top 10 at that time if based purely on form/potential, I think it would be a pretty fair trade for all concerned.

1. Collingwood are desperate for another key forward and will use Kruezer as the forward/ruck role. Bulldogs probably just don't have the cash for him.

2. They can get something really good for Witts (possibly use him in the Treloar deal) whilst getting Kruezer for nothing (trade wise).

Pretty good move from them really.

FWIW

Carlton have confirmed their interest in departing Essendon key defender Jake Carlisle, who has walked out of the club.

The Blues and St Kilda are among the clubs interested in Carlisle, who told the Bombers on Tuesday he wanted a trade to another club.

The Western Bulldogs are not believed to be in the race for Carlisle, but North Melbourne coach Brad Scott has said his club have some interest in him.

The Blues, who intend to spend 95-96 per cent of their salary cap next year, have already parted ways with key position player Henderson, who is expected to confirm that he is seeking a trade to Geelong.

Chris Yarran is yet to formally request a trade - most likely to Richmond - but the Blues are expecting that to happen soon, while Kreuzer has been offered what is believed to be a significant contract by Carlton that is still well below offers from elsewhere.

Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs are interested in Kreuzer, a free agent.

If Carlisle nominated us lets just make it happen (within reason). I'd hate to play hardball and we miss out because another club trumped our offer.

Lee, 24, 42 to Freo for 17, 54.
17 and 54 for Carlisle and 59.

Pick 17 plus a little pick upgrade seems fair given the landscape?

If possible, I'd then look to upgrade pick 59 with a player to push us into the mid 40's - Ray/White/Sippos.

Draft
5 - Parish/Mathieson
4X - Best available (Lovell/Skinner/Fiorini/Clark)
60 - Sinclair upgrade

This off-season feels like it could be similar to the one we had in 2000, where we bought in Gehrig and Hamill and stunned the competition.

If Carlton and Brisbane are getting Band 1 compo would people be more comfortable trading pick #7 for Carlisle?

Might end up as something like 7 + our 3rd (2015 and/or 2016) for Carlisle and Essendon's second (2015)

Won't happen way to much going on there.

I agree with Brett Anderson
first rounder and third rounder
For Carlisle and second rounder

Or get Adelaide involved
