I've been told by a few now that Carlton are almost certain that Carslile will nominate them as his club of choice before the trade period starts. Disappointing if true, but I wouldn't be getting your hopes up unfortunately.

This could end being an unbelievable off season for the Blues.

I am from Maryborough and the word from Stew Crameri a month or so ago was that the Bulldogs were pretty confident of getting Carlisle. Are they still a realistic chance? Understand a lot can change in that time.

Note: Didn't hear it directly from Stew, heard it secondhand.

Some suggestion that he hasn't nominated one particular club and is happy to go to one of 4, which would make it a lot harder for us since our first is too high and our 2nd too low, if true.

This is the issue the Saints have.

To be fair, pick #5 is way overs and surely not going to happen. But then a pick in the early 20's is too late. Somewhere mid teens probably makes sense. That said, he is out of Contract and seems quite wanting to move elsewhere. I would much prefer to see him at the Saints than the Blues though. Wish him all the best, even if that feelings not mutual.

Would prefer it if we didn't land Carlisle, especially if he costs more than a 2nd rounder. I see his huge onfield value, but I'd prefer to stay away.

2 Why would Carlisle want to go to the blues given their immediate future prospects? Unless it was financially driven, which is unlikely given their tight salary cap?

THIS.

If the rumours are correct the Saints are offering him 700k, or anywhere near that, then I cannot understand why he would want to go to the Blues. They're a mess and nowhere near winning flags.

If he comes to the Saints, it'll be because of a lot of money, a fresh start at a club seen to have a positive culture, and better flag prospects in the future.

If he goes to the Blues, it'll be because...

... because...

... um...

Would be absolutely stunned if they let him go for a second rounder.
You don't have much leverage if he nominates a club. Can't see us paying any more then that regardless if his true value is a first rounder.

Keep in mind he has a nice fat suspension hanging over him

No point arguing about it, we'll see in a few weeks. As I said, I'd be absolutely stunned if Carlisle is traded for a second round pick.

Does he? That would stun me even more....

Not trying to argue, just think that's how it is these days. Players win and clubs don't. You guys are in a shit spot atm and I feel for your supporters. Cramer Ryder and Carlisle all gone for nowhere near true value

Let him go - lol. He is OOC.

If he nominates a club you have to trade with them, if you don't the club can take him to the PSD. Saints for example have 105% of SC available next year meaning 1 million more than this season.

Can massively front end the contract and take him and Essendope gets the needle (but they are used to getting jabbed).

If, and a very big if Carlisle nominates the Saints, probs our second plus a decent youngen like a Wright as steak knives. Deal or get SFA as he waltzes into the PSD.

Remember OOC.

Funnily enough, even though I agree they went for less than value, we've done bloody well out of the compo.

The picks for Ryder and Crammers netted us Langford and Zach Merrett.

And yes absolutely, have discussed this at length, the player movements of today are weighted far too heavily in favour of the player.

We'll see mate.

Aish Treloar Carlisle bennell all on the market. All of them fill a need.

Will be interesting in a months time

If we can work magic somehow and land aish & Carlisle whilst still holding our first pick I'll seriously lose my shit (in a very happy way)

Could you explain this one further to me. Not in my time, and I've got a Bombers mate who goes on about that flag consistently.

Cheers
Payments made outside of the cap and discovered by the AFL later. No repurcussions to the premiership but the team disbanded. Otjers maybe be able to provide more info.

Don't know what will happen, it is all supposition, and PSD is very rarely used these days.

The only ace we have to work with if he nominates us is that he is OOC.

If he doesn't nominate us we are out of the race as a Carlton have more trading power and he is certainly not worth our pick 5.

Bloody hell you got a rampaging bj and a fantastic backman in Gwilt off us, you want to bleed us dry????;)

I think a lot of people forget that the PSD is RARELY used in these circumstances - clubs tend to get the deal done.

Ryder was a unique case where there was immense pressure to 'let him go' (and I differed from many of my fellow EFC fans in that I wanted to hold him to his contract and make him try that clause) - but thems the breaks.

I'd prefer to trade Carlisle to the Saints.

I ****ing hate Carlton.
