Problem with this trade peroid, is we putting all our eggs into picks for Keayes and Hipwood. This is a recipe for diaster, we throwing to many eggs in the one basket. Draftees may look good now, but could both end up just avg players. The players we also been linked have all had injury concerns also especially knee injurys, it been our problem for a while. Players with injury concerns and off field issues we need to stay away from.

We are essentially drafting 3 first round draft picks instead of drafting one first, one second, one third, one fourth etc. We have rookie spots to elevate and players like Paine who, if we did have to draft more players, may have lost his spot.

Point being, 3 first round draft picks >>>>> 1 first round draft pick.

Not sure how this the case given the trade period hasn't started and there is a lot to play out before the draft, Hipwood and Keays are highly rated youngsters and both in our academy which is fantastic. All draftees are quite unknown quantities but at least these guys will stay.

Cheers to Conners today to basically sell to everyone involved that burger is a 2nd rounder even 3rd rounder thanks very much mate. So someone please tell me how the afl plan on helping us become more successful and viable when we have 2 first rounders on list

Think he may have meant Band 3, meaning after our 2nd round pick :thumbsu:

COMPENSATION

A club that has a net loss of players transferring to/from other clubs as free agents in one transfer period is entitled to compensation via National Draft picks allocated by the AFL.

The compensation formula produces a points rating for players based on:

1. The new contract of the free agent;
2. The age of the free agent.

Draft picks are allocated to clubs based on the net total points for free agents lost and gained during the transfer period.

Draft picks will be allocated to one of five places:

• 1st round
• end of 1st round
• 2nd round
• end of 2nd round
• 3rd round

In applying the formula, an expert committee reviews the formula outcomes. The committee has the power to recommend alternative outcomes to GM – Football Operations where the formula produces a materially anomalous result.

So the net loss means if we lose jed and luey they combine their points to give us our compo. Obviously someone has to take jed as an UFA instead of a DFA for that to help.

Unfortunately those right people aren't at our club. They were there to talk to periodically while he was at the Suns. We don't need this kind of PR. We have enough bad PR with young players leaving - lets fix that first before taking on high maintenance players.[/QUOTE]
Bennell - Fevola - same shit different year

Yeah but every draftee is a risk really....

Re Bennell: wouldn't know the bloke from a bar of soap, but it's worth remembering that the majority here were dead against Mitch R, and for many of the same reasons cited for Bennell.

I watched the presser when Eade announced Bennell was being given his marching orders and I gained the distinct impression that Coach was very reluctantly going along with the last chance scenario, and that in other circumstances the player would have probably only have received a warning or whatever. That's only my impression and others may well disagree. From the little I know of the apparent incident it was only quite minor, it's just that it was the last of a series.

We supporters place these elite footballers on a pedestal as they are at a level we never achieved, but the simple fact is that they are only young blokes with the added temptations of plenty of $$, superb fitness [maybe Green excepted] and lots of opportunities for female interaction.

Anyway, I personally hope he does end up here, as he is some sort of player.

Plus which, Brisvegas is not the Gold Coast.
