Refer to other post, there is no need to be condescending about it. I said, I have respect for how you guys go about it and agree that you operate within the rules. I am not sure how old you are, but don't forget your club almost folded just 5 years after a dominant run? I doubt a Hawthorn supporter who lived through that period would come across this arrogant.

My point is, we are never going to match it with you guys over the long term as you have double the supporter base. We can't just "Be more like Hawthorn" and instantly be better. You are working with a bigger target market. You also have more resources to attract future fans and dollars to the club. If we want a competition where the same sides win constantly such as the premier league, because they they are bigger more powerful, better placed financially, than so be it. That is currently what we have.

I am not saying I know what the answers are, but it is clear to me the game is going down a certain path. If you are not on top of the tree it is not one that is particularly exciting.

This is just fluff. Hawthorn was not even on the radar. Carlisle chose stkilda and agreed to your offer. The only reason this is in play is bains is not getting anywhere. The mooted trade would have hawthorn losing pick 19 and Anderson. That is really not a mind blowing trade. Saints could easily have come up with something similar. They may still.
