In your opinion. Ready for rd 1?

IMO its certainly not out of the question.

The likes of Masten, Le Cras, Hill and Cripps will all be looking over their shoulders if we draft him because he will be putting some serious pressure on them to perform.

Was keen before but i'm sold now. All aboard the pepper train at our 1st.
I've been keen on him since the first time I saw him play at east Perth in the league side but have always tempered my opinion on whether he's worth our 1st round pick because I lacked any knowledge on the other potential recruits

I'm still not certain that he's the best credentialed option likely to be available at pick 12 but **** that - like you after reading that article I feel like he's the best fit for us and i love the passion he has for the club

To answer Eaglespur i do think he'd be physically capable to play for us in round 1 but I'm not sure hed be best 22 in a fully fit squad that early. He will be putting pressure on the likes of hill and Cripps though

Since Kerr left, this board has been saying we need a crash and bash player like him.
Since Judd left, we've been looking for his explosiveness in a player.
Since Cousins left, our midfield has lacked gut runners.

SPP models his game on all 3. GET HIM ASAP.
I firmly believe that if we don't take him we'll regret it for the next 10 years

Exactly, and why would he come back to us if we overlook him. His heart would be a little shattered.

I'm starting to believe with all the hype that seems to be growing behind him, we'll be taking him at 12.
Yep, pinning our hopes on getting some of these young guys back from over east after a few years hasn't worked so far.
I really hope we do take him, besides his ability he's got some things that seem to be lacking in a lot of our players, he has a real passion for the West Coast Eagles as a team and he plays with heart and determination. We need guys like this out on the field to take the place of some of our soft, heartless, front runners who disappear in big games.

I'm hoping that Brodie slides.

Getting SPP is an exciting prospect though, just hope it's a Cripps-style reach rather than a Boekherst.
Boekherst was way out of left field just like when they took that other west Aussie curly haired guy.the shaker is really moving up draft boards in the last few weeks

If Logue was available at our first would we take him over SPP?
Already brought this up and it was Logue but...
with the discussion of passing on SPP for Berry, SPS, Brodie etc, does Logue fall into the same category? (if available)

I think i'm the only one who doesn't rate logue. I just don't think he has the required production to be a star at afl level.

Pretty interesting article on drafting by Rohan Connolly on WA Today website.

"
Last season, the average number of handballs per team rose to more than 170 per game, up from 159.7, only the second time in the near two decades Champion Data has been the official AFL provider that the 170-mark has been breached, and the kick-to-handball ratio of 1.21 the second-lowest recorded over the same period.

The number of tackles this year was the highest ever recorded, an average of just on 70 per team. Contested possession was at its highest level since 2011 and the second-highest figure yet. Those figures are particularly significant given that around-the-ground stoppages fell from 70.7 to 61.9.

That reduction had very little to do with fewer ball-ups, and almost everything to do with fewer throw-ins, the harsher interpretation on deliberate out-of-bounds and the new 10-metre protected area rule making teams far more corridor-centric.

Yet that didn't increase scoring much at all, nor necessarily open the game up. Neither did a further reduction of the interchange cap from 120 to 90. The congestion simply became more frequent in the corridor than near the boundary line.

But that, however, might have increased even further the premium on good, quick handball skills in the traffic, with the prize for breaking clear a potential goal-scoring opportunity from a more central location rather than having to take a chance from out wide, or having to navigate inboard again once the clearance has been won."
