How many rookie draft picks do we have? Will be disappointed if the Eagles overlook Asher Samelko after he has been playing under some of their coaches nose all year. Even if we have to pay out McInnes, he's a better player than him. Wouldn't be angry if we took him with the last national darft pick.

Interestingly they've already moved McInnes to the rookie list on the eagles website, so looks like we're keeping him.

Haha so many people on the SPP train now. He's exactly the type of player we need, don't think his kicking issues will be a big problem overall

And thats the thing Bleedblueandgold he may not 100 % be the best player available footy talent wise but he is pretty close to it , but where he is a perfect match is in the needs and attitude department.
The kid already has a vibe and persona thats infectious and we all hope that his flair and passion is contagious within our list.

I like to think I am reasonably up with the talent pool of this years cohort and I want to hear this read out on draft night.

Player Registration # 71265. Samuel Powell - Pepper. East Perth Football Club. Mount Hawthorn Junior Football Club.

And just to make sure that Rohan O'Brien calls outs that name on draft night, I have arranged for another Irishman Liam Neeson to call him the night before the draft and a I hope the conversation goes a bit like this :

" I do not have the skills of an AFL recruiter . What I do have are a particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you call out Sam Powell - Peppers name at pick # 12 on draft night, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't read out Sam Powell Peppers name at Pick # 12 , I will find you and I will kill you. "

Or in the Australian vernacular Rohan O'Brien don't **** this up.

Depends how many we take in the ND. If we have the maximum 40 on the main list we only get 1 pick in the rookie draft.

I hate the concept of delisting a player then rookie listing him to finish his contract.

If the cap is that tight it's poor management. Ultimately all it means is we hold onto a spud for an extra year.
I think it's just about honouring a contract. I dont think you can just cut someone with out them agreeing to it.

Agree completely, either he's good enough for the main list or he's not, pay him out and move on to someone who at least has the potential to be decent.

Hahahahaha....Without even trying, when I read it all I heard was Liam Neesons voice. Classic!

Truth be told...It looks as though even if SPP is snapped up earlier than expected, we'll end up with someone like Berry or a big slider like Brodie or fingers crossed Taranto (virtually no chance but my fav).

Regardless of how you look at it, our first pick should be a rippa.

Bring it on already!!!

What if it's English?

You can, you just have to pay him the rest of his contract or an agreed buy out amount.
But if I signed a contract that said I would be playing on the Eagles list for 2 years then they paid me out after 1 wouldn't that be breaking it? Sure you get paid out but I wouldnt be playing. The only times I've seen them pay someone out is when the player has agreed like Kerr who's body broke down.

Don't think so, you're signing a contract to be paid a certain amount for being employed by the club, if the club wants to pay you to sit at home then they can.

What if it's English?

Then I would expect you to call Don Corleone and arrange a visit from Luca Brasi.

I do my bit .... you do yours

Not sure if you've been asked before, but what are your thoughts on taking SPP with 12?

Might have to get the horses head ready for the night before the draft

I like it when we are all on the same page.

However:
Jokes aside I will be disappointed if we don't take him with our first.
I get a feeling that it just one of those things that are meant to be, no logic to my thought ....... just a gut feeling.

Dont think O'Brien does it anymore . Rawlings does that now does he not

My understanding is that O'Brien does recruiting and Rawlings does list management.
O'Brien has to draft them before Rawlings gets to manage them on the list.
May sound like semantics but the subtle division is both necessary and important.
