But every expert rates him higher than SPP except for WA BigFooty posters who are in love with SPP?

Hey, I'm on th SPP train as well but I've still got two eyes open and are taking in what the experts are pretty well all saying. They could be wrong and they have been but they all rate about six players ahead of SPP........which isn't a lot really.

Our pick is actually quite a tricky spot, around that area there is always someone who was rated higher and has slid for whatever reason. And on here people are hoping we 'reach' 6>12 picks and take SPP. Then again what pick did Fyfe get taken?
Do they?

I am not so sure. Both SPP and Berry were rated higher earlier in the year, but many experts have SPP and Berry in a similar range with Berry slightly higher and SPP slightly lower. Most largely consider the draft even from 15 to 35 and give similar reason to what I have.

I also think SPP is a reach at our pick, and think he is misrepresented as a player, however it is one I could deal with, whereas I am not a Berry fan.

Neither SPP nor Berry are comparable with Fyfe. Either in terms of players or situation.

Not on the SPP train myself, I am on the potential slider/pool of Venables, Hayward, Gallucci and Simpkin.

Not that strong.

Without being too specific, I regularly see TAC and junior matches and training, simply due to proximity and using the same oval(s). I don't get out a clipboard and binoculars etc. though. The team I get to see train and play most regularly is the Chargers.

I also work occasionally with a potential draftee, another hopeful who played 15/16 TAC and country footy and a few uni friends play VFL/played TAC. So get a bit of feedback on some of the players.

I am not a serious draftee watcher by any stretch, and if I can be bothered next season will actually take the time to head to IKON Park and watch some of the finals games.

Honestly, there is nothing for you to understand. People form opinions from what they see live, recorded or others opinions. I simply don't understand the need for consensus thinking and why posters need rally and defend their favorites.

Every draft it happens, when I wanted Sheed or Duggan I couldn't believe how upset groups of posters got, who were in say team Acres or team Cockatoo etc. My broad view is that smarts and output are underrated, height and athleticism are overrated. People project what they want players to be, onto what they are, though thankfully the potential or upside buzzwords aren't used as often in 16. The dependable players, or high output mids, even developed ones regularly exceed expectations and often become the best players from a draft, yet they still get talked down in favour of the draftees with scope. Greene, Talia, Mitchell, Libba, Daniels, Lever, Sheed and so on are all good examples. Output plus footy smarts, winning combination and these guys tend to outperform hype. It is why I am so surprised Brodie has been talked about as a slider and why I am less keen on speculative talls or say Berry, who has the athletic side and is tough, but isn't the smartest or has a demonstrated high level output. If you can't win big numbers at TAC level, or have some standout games, it's rare to see a player be a ball winner in the AFL or match winner.

Thoughts on Gallucci?

Given what had happened at GWS now suspensions to the parties involved have been handed out.
GWS must be made take responsibility for its employees. The club as a whole must be sanctioned and penalised draft picks from this years draft imo.

- Bringing us further up the draft in round one and a step closer to Taranto ;)
I'd rather Scrimshaw

I think everyone would be happy if Brodie slid to our pick..........

You don't need to have big TAC cup numbers to make it in AFL

Nor does big numbers in the TAC cup guarantee them to become dominant at AFL level

Seriously a bit of backwards thinking AFL recruiters don't look at what a player is now more on what they can become

Bontempelli is a perfect example his u18 champs were poor etc etc
It isn't mandatory, but history shows that mids or flankers with a solid base (passable athletically and right size), who dominate TAC/TAC finals generally do better in the AFL. Likewise, if you struggle as a mid at TAC level you rarely make it as a mid at the next.

Bontempelli, like Tarranto was rated so high because he smashed the latter part of the TAC season, especially when played in the middle. Had some huge numbers. Never mentioned under 18's.

He never had huge numbers.......Maybe Luke Bunker should be a top 15 pick he averaged 26 disposals in the TAC cup and had a few dominate games and has a solid base ?

2 games of 29 possessions and a game where he scored 5 goals, he went pretty well.
Yeah he did but huge numbers in the TAC cup are 40 possessions like McGrath Galluci etc You would be surprised how many players that weren't even nominated for the Combine that had 30 possessions etc

What I'm saying is its not just about numbers recruiters look for growth potential and even (Attributes)

Just reading and Knightmare has Goddard going very late in the ND/early in the rookie draft
So we may not need to use 54 on him then if we are interested

That said my only preferences for this draft are that we get SPP with 12 if necessary, Banfield with one of our late picks and waterman we only have to use 54 or later on.

Beyond that I'm relatively indifferent on who we pick provided one of our choices is a small crumbing forward

And like everyone else I don't want Petrie

Yeh fair enough, I get what you're saying.

I'm with you on all of that, be nice to get Waterman after 54 though, think there's going to be some options available there that will be better players than him. I hope we use all our picks in the ND, there will still be some good players left at the end of the draft.

Royal Eagle wanted acres and i wanted to try and trade our pick 6 and 28 for 18-19-20 and draft acres, crouch, dunstan.

Well you can try. I can propose to try and pull Katy perry. Doesn't mean it's possible, good idea or make me a hero just because I proposed it.

In saying that, you proposed 2 plodders and someone whose game may not transition to midfield.

Why would you do that?

RE also thought Alec waterman was a no1 draft pick.

But maybe he just got a bit excited.

Rumours taranto could be pick two if bombers go McGrath. Safe to say Tarranto can be forgotten about at 12. The more I read about berry and SPP and their limitations, the more I think maybe gallucci is reasonable. Then I read up on him and I really have no idea what we are going to do...
