But doesn't Archie and the new boys leave us with 39? I know we don't need to use the 40 and can have an expanded rookie list if we wish but I'd just like to know if that's the plan or not.

I got the first 7 right using the nab game!!! I'm just pinching myself that we have gotten Schache and McCluggage in the last two drafts. Berry, Witherden, cox and Lyons are going to be great at the club. Allison can breathe a sigh of relief, he will have a belly full of fire to prove himself now!!!!

What a wonderful draft result for our club. Watson was unfortunate but really we were never going to match a bid that high. I was touting for C Cox earlier in the draft period after Anderson suggested we weren't targeting WA boys - largely because Cedric has moved away from home to make his career in footy and that speaks wonders for me. Berry and Witherden are quality boys. I've watched a fair bit of Lyons and think he is the icing on the cake. Not the profile of some others but a very capable footballer.

I think saying that you aren't personally keen on a particular player is one thing... repeating ad nauseum that a player definitively will leave in 2 years is something else entirely. You were saying it before he was even drafted.

Thought we would go another mid, but very happy with Cox who looks capable playing anywhere and has a great kick. Thank god Fagan came to our club and has obviously demanded nothing but great kicks. About time.

Yep I think we did outstanding at this years draft. The first 4 of our picks are all Vic Country representatives, with three of them playing club footy together at North Ballarat (McCluggage, Cox, Berry). I know that Cox originally comes from Halls Creek, but it will help out that he has experience playing club footy with the others. Really smart drafting by Conole and co. Bright future ahead for the Lions.

I was pushing hard for Ainsworth but as I said I'm very happy with McÇluggage he said on SEN he can't wait to play under Fagan and has good mates already at the club in Schache Matho and is bestmates with Berry
