Waite and Petrie's best far surpasses Maj at this stage but do you take a risk with Waite with a hip that hasn't quite been right whenever he's come back?
Unfortunately for Maj, you can't afford those schoolboy learning pain errors in a big final. I'm not sure Brad trusts him completely yet.
On another note, the crows over last 11 weeks have form of 9/2 W-L with 149%, we've gone 2/9 with 80%. Sad to say it but our pressure has to be elite for us to even be in the game if our offense is as putrid as it has been the last 11 weeks. Let's hope they fix the ball movement at training and watched how West Coast shut their game down, but knowing Bradley he'd be focusing just on us.
Head says we get rolled by 30. Heart says we do our best work in september, lets hope the old boys can turn back the clock.

Neither Drew or Maj offering much in terms of scoreboard pressure, which is why we need to try Waite.

Maj's forward pressure is pretty terrible and Drew's up the ground marking has been shocking, so I think it will come down to what we value more - a link man outside 50 or a big forward who will keep the pressure on in the 50.

I think it will be the latter and Drew will keep his spot.

One thing to note is that Adelaide played 4 top 8 teams in this time - and beat two of them. West Coast back in round 12, and then us in round 14. Since then, they have lost to the Cats and the Eagles, and beaten up on poor teams.

It is still better form than us, no doubt about it. We've played 8 top 8 teams, and beaten none of them! They beat us in the equivalent fixture, and beat us comfortably. But I really don't think we should be counting ourselves out. This should be seen as a 60-40, at worst 70-30 game. They are deserved favourites, but us winning isn't such a crazy idea.

At the very least, this should be a competitive game and we should be on top for some of it. I expect us to play well, and I expect us to take it right up to them. It's a tough fixture, and it would be a great win. I think we can do it. I don't know if we will, but we can. We've got the best team we've had in months - if Waite is fit then we are strong and dangerous across the park. Control the stoppages, bring the pressure, win the game.

Jeeze it's a bit grim ITT.

Just remember that the odds mean shit. Anything can happen on the day peeps.

Those tools were such big underdogs in 1998 that when Steven Bradbury won gold in Salt Lake City four years later the commentator should've said "Wow he really did an Adelaide there, didn't he?!"

They practically stole that premiership from you. Seek vengeance for that crime and deliver fierce retribution.

Godspeed.

This is a good post but what is 1998?

Going by the Scott. Maj is out and Drew is in. Because he looks backwards to a time when Drew wasn't cooked. What an absolute debauchery of a session. We are throwing a finals series because we have no man mangement. "Majak" has proven he's going to be really exciting player for us, not just now but into the future, but it's an elimination final so we do what we need to do in the short-term to get the job done," Scott said.
So we'll lose by 10 goals, the 4 great blokes walk off feeling like shit in front of an Adelaide crowd and Maj says get stuffed and walks to the Doggies. Well done North!!

Play them all plonk Mak at CHF Drew HFF Brown in the square Waite LFP And Lindsay to run around where ever . Throw the whole house at them and see what happens :) if these guys can take the big grabs or bring the ball down to norths advantage then we are in with a show

I like this guy, really fires you up!

Is it just me, or could things be looking less daunting then once thought with a much more different outfit running out on Saturday night? The team will be looking much similar to round one then our last outing at AO.

North coach Brad Scott says the week off has seen the players return refreshed and ready for finals.

Come Saturday night, it will be a fortnight since the Roos’ last match, with the break proving valuable for those racing the clock to prove their fitness.

“The weekend off has thrown a different challenge at us, but it’s come at a really good time for us,” Scott told the media on Tuesday.

“It certainly helped us. We had a lot to digest over the last couple of weeks, on and off field.

“We’ve had some challenges with player availability, but the extra week’s given a lot of those guys the opportunity to push forward.”

Jarrad Waite and Scott Thompson are among those hoping to push their case for a recall.

“We’ve had really good numbers on the track, both Friday and Monday, so we are going to have a lot of decisions to make on that front,” Scott said.

“We’re probably in as good a spot as we’ve been in the second half of the year in terms of player freshness and player availability.”

Andrew Swallow echoed the thoughts of his coach.

“Having the week off has really worked in our favour,” he said.

“It’s been a difficult couple of weeks, but I think everyone had a good chance to just re-focus, get away, spend some time with family and the last couple of sessions have been as good as we’ve trained all year.”

North will train on Wednesday in Melbourne, then Friday in Adelaide, as finals’ fever hits.

“We’re looking forward to it. There’s that September feeling in the air in Melbourne,” Scott added.

North Melbourne could welcome back at least two players for its Elimination Final against Adelaide this Saturday night.

Scott Thompson and Jarrad Waite will be put through fitness tests this week, as they look to make their respective returns from injury.

Thompson missed North’s Round 23 clash against GWS with an adductor issue, while Waite has been sidelined following minor hip surgery.

North Director of Football Geoff Walsh said the duo’s availability would be known later in the week.

“The pre-finals bye has come at a good time for both Jarrad and Scott,” Walsh told NMFC.com.au.

“It’s given them both an extra week to put their hand up for selection should they get through training this week.

“We’ll know more after we see how they recover from our main session later in the week, and we’ll then decide whether they will be named in our side on Thursday.”

Meanwhile, Jamie Macmillan has been given the all clear after he failed to play out North’s Round 23 clash against the Giants.

“Jamie suffered a corky on the top of his hip early on during the game, but he recovered well and will be right to go this weekend,” Walsh added.

Farren Ray (hamstring) – test
Kayne Turner (hamstring) – test
Scott Thompson (adductor) – test
Jarrad Waite (hip) – test
Mason Wood (knee) – test
Ben Jacobs (foot) – test
Sam Wright (ankle) – test
Taylor Garner (hamstring) – season

Lack of 2 weeks mentioned here ^^^

Nope. Scott just pretty much confirmed on 360 that Drew will play. He wasn't so committal on Waite though. No mention of Daw
Can't believe Scotts is so easy to read, must be a shocking poker player, surely giving the Crows such an easy heads up is counter productive?, may as well just email the side to Don Pyke now.
