The Blues will expect Pick 13 and next year's first. Three years left on the contract. Senior player. B&F two year's ago.

Pick 13 + fringe will get laughed out of the room.
He's no dangerfield.
They can laugh all they want.
If Gibbs is worth 2 first rounders Fyfe and Hogan would cost 4 years of draft picks

Bryce had a baby and his wife is from Adelaide. Apparently wants to move back home to be close to family.

Familiar story? Hopefully we can be on the right side for once.
His wife is from Vic or SA?

I'm not saying it's "equal". But we're trying to bring in a 200-game senior B&F winner with 3 years left on his contract. We will need to give more to get him.

Not saying we should either way. Just saying we have zero leverage.

Adelaide's response tends to indicate that there could be some truth in the possible Gibbs to Adelaide discussions. It also explains why Adelaide's re-action to Rockliff's availability has been one of silence so far.

It tends to indicate that in the eyes of the List Managers at Adelaide, the unknown big fish priority rating has Gibbs ahead of Rockliff.

I would think that they see Gibbs as a part-inside, part outside player who has the innate ability of getting on his own more than most, whereas they probably see Rockliff as essentially an inside mid.

They make an interesting comparison, with each of them a very good player in their own right. Each of them can have a significant effect on a game, although IMO Rockliff is the one more likely to win you a game with his dominance.

My preference would be Rockliff who is tougher and more consistent, although I accept that others may see it the other way around.

Either improves our mid-field, and i certainly hope we land one of them.

Personally I would be trying to land both if our salary cap can take it.

It may take a bit of horse trading to achieve it, but we should be reasonably ruthless in who we are prepared to give up to minimise the draft picks it would take. Apart from the usual suspects in Grigg, Lyons, CEY, it should also include Douglas, Brown, Mackay and Henderson - whichever of these helps the cause.

Add Rockliff and Gibbs to our mid-field of Sloane, Matt Crouch, Brad Crouch etc and all of a sudden, we have the quality to match any opposition in all parts of the ground.

Our premiership window is opening. Let's give ourselves a real chance to have a crack at it.

That's what your proposal meant.

Trading Lynch for 23.
That's your inference and you're welcome to it, but it's not what was intended.

I also wouldn't make the trade, I just think it's one of the few ways Carlton would be enticed to the table, given their bargaining position.

It probably makes sense for Carlton to deal Gibbs for youth to even out their list profile for next year, but I think they're in the business of selling hope and will want to have a crack at the 8 next year with Murphy, Thomas, Gibbs, Simpson etc.

Brown - Hartigan - Lever
Laird - Talia - Smith
Smith - Rockliff - Cameron
Jacobs - Sloane - Gibbs
Lynch - Walker - Menzel
Betts - Jenkins - McGovern
B.Crouch - M.Crouch - Cheney
Milera

With Doedee or Hampton to potentially take over from Cheney later in the year. That's one very talented team.

You'd expect Hartigan, Lever, Laird, Milera, Cameron, Crouch + 2 and the gov to all take their game up a notch as well. Would die of shock if we got both Gibbs and Rocky though.

I honestly can't believe people calling Gibbs an average player. Go watch his game against Geelong earlier in the year if you don't think he can win a match. I'd give a first in an instant. Our time is now.

Fair enough and seeing as though Carlton didn't end up with a million Friday night games I haven't seen much of him lately. On one hand with his age he's probably coming into his prime which is a great time to get him, on the other hand do you give up a first for a guy who is almost 28? If we can add a few good players and give the flag a crack now then you probably would. Just got to be careful we don't put ourselves in a hole considering the draft picks we've also lost recently. I think I'm changing my mind. We probably should load up and go for gold now, but will probably cop some pain in 5 years time if we trade in vets and give away our first rounders.

The GWS/Coll trade last year was two 1sts for Treloar and a 2nd.

Gibbs is 4 years older (?), a little more inconsistent, and IMO had not quite as good a year this year as Treloar did last year.

Reckon he's worth a 1st only. Mainly due to age. Maybe add Grigg on top.

Gibbs has 3 years left on his contract and is arguably their best midfielder along with Cripps. Pick 13 and Grigg? Zero chance.

No way known we'd get 2 firsts from Adelaide unless you knew that Gibbs was the difference between getting or missing out on a Premiership..........and I don't think he is.

Carlton are bereft of midfielders and they have to be careful not to overload Cripps. A deal is possible but midfielders will have to come from somewhere other than the draft alone. Interesting.

I'm a Blues supporter and even I think two firsts is ridiculous.
What would you guys expect for Gibbs?
