In a move to gainer more members and retain the ones they have the club is focussing on making a membership more beneficial and rewarding for the member instead of just what can the club gain out of it:
So this year, as chief commercial officer Justin Reeves launches into his first pre-season at Geelong, a revolution is taking place.
It’s all about the fans, more than ever before.
“Everything that we do now and every decision that we make from a membership perspective is geared around the customer — what does the customer get from it? Not just a commercial return for the club,” Reeves, the former commercial trailblazer at Collingwood, said.

“These days, everything has got to go through multiple filters. From the old days, even though I wasn’t there, but from what I can gather, it was very much around ‘what’s the commercial result?’

“But now it’s got to go through a two-stage process — it’s got to be both commercial and it also has to be good for the customer.”
It is heartening to see the club bringing in people who are looking to challenge the norm, to help our club take that next step from good to great an living what we have set out to achieve,

That they have acknowledged what they have done in the past hasn't worked and that they are taking steps to improve how they treat those supporters who take the step to being members should be applauded.
The what may seem like a simple things such as contacting personally every person who have had their seats for the upcoming season effected and explaining to them the options available to them for 2016 is a major step in the right direction.

This seems like very promising news to me.

It's entirely the right rhetoric about how we should be seeking to maintain exisitng members and expand our horizons to appeal to prospective new additions.

Actually doesn't matter much to me at all as I will be a member irrespective of what Membership Services 'offer' but I'm heartened to think that those unsure of whether to commit might get the time and energy devoted to them that gets them over the line to put their money down.

Just hope the activity to follow these pronouncements makes good on the promise of greater member satisfaction in the future.

For some, it is undoubtedly the difference between remaining a passionate fan and becoming a paid-up follower.

This will be interesting.
I'm sure there will be some hits and misses but just the fact that upon reflection they admit it could have been better and are looking to improve it is massive IMO.

Good start. And with PFD, scooter, Hendo and Zac coming in, interest in new members and current member retention is paramount as they have identified. I known it sounds rudimentary but we know that is not always the case.

Well the club just signed 3 more members. The wife and 2 kids have just became first time members.

I also got 4 reserved seats for the year as well... Not many left either apparently.

$850 later which I thought was cheap.

I know what you are saying Daz and recognising the problem is a necessary first step. I'm just not convinced they have the appetite for the change of the kind that will be necessary to increase our membership by 40%. It will take some quite radical change to culture and innovation. Great if they can pull it off but at this point I'm a sceptic.

Nope because I want neither. Offer a shirt or a guernsey and I'll happily claim either.
I'll claim my hat and gladly take your scarf since you're not fussed... Cheers pal.

Who says the club gives you nothing.

So this time around we'll get both a hat AND a scarf?
Just wait till mid year when they are trying to push the numbers up last min and grab a 3 game membership with a guernsey thrown in

Not sure what you mean Daz, just stating a way to go about it if you want more than just a hat or scarf

Fwiw the best thing last year was the voucher for the Cats shop... they would give you the discount on the full price, then take the 20 bucks or whatever off..

I got a pair of training shorts that rrp for 60 for about half price :thumbsu:

There was a bit of angst last year (rightly so) when they offered exactly what you referred to.
I was playing on that.

Yeah I know, a mate emailed the club voicing his disgust haha

Just got a generic response back.

I get the angst too. I'd payed up in Jan and unless I go home dont even get my scarf, hat or use of my discount voucher x 3. The kids miss their gifts too.

Us international types get lost in the ether a lot with these things.

Surely there has to be some solution to this.

It's a bit of a flaw in the system that you need to go there to get the hat etc, or you at worst have to organize to have it sent to you.... it should just be sent out with the rest of your stuff

Would feel like you were getting a big exciting package as well haha

So the club are listening to members now? Does that mean Steve Johnson's coming back?
If that's the case I should receive my call to replace Scott soon. ;)
