Geelong did it to Bartel.
That's only because it was needed for the team's scoring, and he's a gun and can play anywhere. He also spent time down back the year before for similar reasons.
Injuries to Motlop/Christiansen and Vardy left holes for support around Hawkins in 2014.

That being said, there are a raft of young guns with pretty good tanks who will roll through the Pie's midfield this year- still reckon Pendles will be used primarily where he belongs, in the guts.

Until I see it, I won't believe it. Pendles is one of the top 5 midfielders in the entire competition. I can't see him being squeezed out of mid time.

I think I said earlier in this thread, but his lower SC score last year was a direct result of lower CP and Clearance numbers...

...he actually av'd more possessions and more marks than 2014.

A lot of people seem to blaming his SC dip on injury, but there's compelling evidence that he's already on his way to be the 'distributor' rather than the extractor.
[Which may not necessarily be a terrible thing anyway.]

With alot of indecision RE rookie backs and forwards this year, would it be completely crazy to have just 2 Premium mids (Fyfe + Danger) and the rest rookies.... allowing a huge amount of cash to setup premium Forwards, backs and rucks?

Are Libba and MCrouch must-haves? Or are they likely to score similar to BenKen, Oliver, Mills??
You're not really comparing midget "BenKen" to contested ball freak Libba? :drunk:

Would that be completely crazy Jiska?

Tom Rockliff took a big step towards securing his spot in the Lions' round one team to play West Coast, training strongly in Brisbane on Thursday morning.

Rockliff bypassed the annual Captains' Day in Melbourne to resume training after tweaking his hamstring early last week, and ticked every box.

The Lions skipper completed a series of all-out sprints before joining in with some full ground training drills and finally goalkicking practice in the two-hour plus session.

He looked totally untroubled.

Way I see it with Ablett is he's either going to bang and pull out a 130 average or he will play 'poorly' and still end up averaging 110. That's why he's one of the best.

Other option is he gets injured and we got to burn a trade but atleast you won't go wondering.

Spot on. Downgrade for cash or a gun on the bubble who is a few grand cheaper. As long as the injury is not 5 minutes into the first quarter round 3.

I have ditched Libba. (insert gun to the head emoticon here).

Just can not keep him and start with Shaw, Pendles Ablett, Rocky, Goldy, Dusty et al as well.

If there were some decent low priced rookies putting their hands up it would be a different story. Picking up Mills, Milera, Ben Ken, Weitering etc is a killer.

Good post. I do agree with you, I think he will spend more time down back as they will let Treloar/Adams/Greenwood do most of the bullocking work, but you can bet your bottom dollar that when the game is on the line or if the Pies are 5/6 goals down they will throw him on the ball ala Burgoyne for the Hawks.

A lot more teams are putting there best decision makers/ball users down back, I still think he will average 115 plus, his CP count will go down but the DE will go up.

PS. I didn't think clearances were counted in SC?

Pies need a decision maker at half back badly, very bloody badly

If its Pendles it'll be great for the pies imo, unknown tho from a SC perspective

Ownership for the 3 big guns

Danger - 44%
Fyfe - 36%
Pendles - 22%

I know Danger has had a huge NAB but surprised he is that high. Pendles very low too and seems to be dropping more each day.

How many of the 3 do you have? and which ones?

Percentage of defensive half disposals for Pendles - 2015 H&A (57.3%) and 2016 NAB (57.5%). #SuperCoach #AFLFantasy

Chill out, even Buckley isn't stupid enough to take one of the best midfielders in the comp out of the midfield and plonk him at half back.

So we can expect a 116 average again?

Edit: tbh I'm yet to hear a good reason why his average will return to 125. Rather wait & see as I think Fyfe & Danger have more upside at this point.
