Id have hombsch in our side over hartigan.
Boak over lyons
R.Gray over cameron
Wingard over mackay
And think about ebert over seedsman
Wines has been pretty poor so far this year

Hartigan → Hombsch
Cameron → Wingard
Mackay → R. Gray
Atkins → Boak
Lyons → B. Crouch

Pittard good but I'd prefer Smith or Seedsman. Boak borderline at the moment. Everyone else poor.

Wouldn't go anywhere near Ebert. Very bland player that goes missing 90% of the time.

Ebert initially had a spike in form when he arrived, but the last couple of years he's gone back to his West Coast form.

I can still remember when the Port supporters were trying to claim that he was better than Dangerfield :$

Here's another one for you. How many of our SANFL team get into Port's firsts?

If they had the following available, they'd get a call up next week:

Greenwood over Amon
CEY for Toumpas
Henderson for O'Shea
Van Berlo for Byrne-Jones
Knight for Neade
Gore for Gray
Menzel for Stewart

Nah, they wouldn't drop Byrne-Jones. The only one who really made a 4 quarter effort. Ok Wines did too. But that was pretty much it.

Port were around 105% of the salary cap, but now have some relief not paying for Ryder or monfries.

They have been paying significant overs to become a destination club. ;)

I heard Hinkley on AA a few weeks ago hint that he's going to spend that spare money from Ryder and Monfries on players, I don't think anyone has told Ken that they don't have anything to trade (they can't trade their first pick and their 2nd pick is already traded).

I would laugh my ass off if Ken goes trying to buy more puzzle pieces at the end of the year.

I'm always wary of young players who put in "good" performances when the rest of the team is going shit. They tend to get overhyped as a result because we're just comparing him to his team mates, so the bar is set pretty low.

& most of their players worth any trade value are signed up to long deals.

Some people here massively underrating Gray. He's an absolute jet. They just can't get anything working at the moment.

Gray, Wines, Boak, Wingard & Hombsch would all be in our best 22. Most of them would fit in a lot of best 22s.
Robbie Gray or the other one? I think most of us are saying we'd have Robbie in our team. Goes without saying really.

Honestly, their needs were forwards, forwards and then more forwards.

Getting Bennell was nice, but not necessary.

I would have given up our then pick 13 (which became 17) for Bennell
or in exchange for (Jed Anderson + 2nd round).

How ?? As bad as Richmond are they are playing at home and are in better form than port

Maric Martin Miles and Cotchin will smash em in the middle

The Chappy factor. They'll lift to shove it up him. If a few of them (hamish, polec ) pull their finger out for 4 quarters I can see them winning. Do Tigers have a match up for big Dix with Rance out? Mind you Gray has to have a blinder too. And if he's got any pride hell bounce back after Saturdays effort.

Trengove 1 week.

Gray another fine for his off-the-ball hit.

About 20 players fined for both melees.

Rance 2 weeks.

Gray is a serial offender - he should have been suspended (I understand fines for one-off offences but he's been doing this for yonks and keeps getting away with it).

Chappy factor works both ways. In fact the ledger is well in the Tiggers favour taking out the '14 EF.

Stop! My brain hurts!
Basically all you need to know is Collingwood gave up 2 players in Ben Kennedy and Paul Seedsman who have become handy contributors to their new sides for Jeremy Howe who has accomplished very little while Port gave up nothing to get Toumpas and haven't gotten a whole lot in return yet either.

Wasn't the real underlying reason behind the Magpies being brought back into the fold (as the AFL Reserves), in order to get the assets of such things as the Prince of Wales Hotel plus 33? pokie licences.
Yep.
Edit. Slightly different time line. The One Club proposal was 2010 and that was to get the POW and its pokies with a promise put to the Magpie members that they'd never be a Power reserves team. Once Sanderson was pushing for an Adelaide reserves team Port decided that their promise was invalid. I suspect they had a plan all along to do this. To the point where they were moving their AFL listed players back to the Magpies anyway.
