His explanation defies logic, If he just said the umpire couldn't see the fake handball and didn't think he had prior I would be fine with it. But this such a bullshit excuse. Nat asks why it's not prior and he just moves on to "making a genuine attempt" before he's even tackled.
I also heard something on 5aa. They played a grab of Mark Evans and he praised the umpire '' for knowing the stage of the game'' . Pardon? So a free is paid or not paid according to the time of the game and not if a free was there?

Odd

He raised the national profile of Port due to his celebrity and his business and financial acumen made them a strong financial club while at the same time Hinkley made them a force on the field. For a while the stars aligned. But he has lost perspective. Winning the premiership was never a realistic goal when he took office. His goal was getting the best fan engagement possible and boosting Ports national profile. But when they seemingly thought they reached the level of national identity they were ever going to achieve backed by ever increasing membership, instead of focusing on the football department and exploring whether its operating properly they further took the eye off the ball and went globe trotting. Now Port are struggling, Kochie has the nerve to publicly blame his players. Sorry Kochie this is the end result of a negligent president.

What BS…so the stage of the game was vastly different 30 seconds earlier (which I reckon was also a free but wtf is consistency )

Oh, now I understand, Hawks were behind at that point (and also with the soft holding free, Lynch's mark, Tex watching the ball and called the exact opposite)…but once the Hawks were in front……….whoa, we gotta understand the stage of the game boys ;);)VFL;);)

Rowie asked Bassett whether the melee got Geelong to pull their finger out and get fired up.
Bassett's response was that actually scores were pretty unchanged for the first 15 minutes of that quarter so really didn't change any momentum Port had.
Rowie gobsmacked.

That was a pretty unimpressive interview by bass

They are in real strife

Agreed

They are talking in circles. Everything is just about the players not executing but look they can do it for a little while so we just have to do it for longer

As I've said previously, describing the problem is not the same as diagnosing the problem

Bassett is typically one to say what he thinks but obviously isn't at the moment. You can't blame him, he's new in his role and doesn't want to ruffle feathers.
It'll hurt him to have to hold back.
