The area we're not strong is of course the KPF. We just delisted/moved on midfielders when we have youngsters to come in, plenty of depth. Pavlich out mean we have Apeness as next best then Tabs. And that's t. Hence why Kersten/Black are talked about, we have no depth in that area. So it's not necessarily a spud out for a spud in. Just stocking up on our needs more then anything. We've tried time and time again to bring in any key forward, and hasn't worked for years now. Can't be all pickers and choosers. Have to give the midfield at least targets to kick to.

Port have been keen on him all year, Black had a 'reasonable' year with Werribee, he kicked 31 goals from 17 games, which is about 1.8 goals per game. Due to the injuries to our main team, it left our Werribee side often fairly weak. I still think he will be a pretty good medium/tall forward, he just is a low priority for us given we will push with Brown/Daw/Wood/Waite next year and are still developing first round pick KPFs in Durdin and McKay. I think he will do okay when he gets back into AFL level, he is too talented for the VFL. He just isn't a FF.
If he isn't a FF then we don't need him, we have Taberner who is better then him at that role as well as Apeness as a Fwd/Ruck.
McCarthy would be a third tall and Yarran a medium forward, then obviously Walters as one of the smalls with Weller/Langdon/tonne of others rotating through.

Hope Port are into him because we won't be, North should have shipped him off in 2013

*Disclaimer I have never rated Black anyway, so i hope we don't even start talks*

I'd consider him on a short deal if cheap. Looking at his inside football record for 2016, his record looks at least similar to Tabs at WAFL level: http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/Ratings/Player/115767/Aaron-BLACK

Tabs dominates at WAFL level now, takes like 10 marks a game and gets 20 possies up the ground, pretty sure he kicked 5 goals in his last WAFL game too.

Taberner is far better then Black (and younger)

Not a fan of Tab , but i think he improve his output this year , dont see the reason for him or black playing in wafl .
Is either tab or black not both.

yep and Tabs is so much better then him, it kind of baffles me that people even think we would want Black.

It's the old taller then 190cm? link him to Freo

Yeah, I don't think you have to worry, don't think we have talked to Freo.

Is Tabs better? This year was his best haul of goals, with 18 from 17 games. That bar isn't spectacularly high. I think Black would be better suited for Port, Black's good year coincided with the period we moved the ball a lot quicker, where he was able to get separation and take a lot of uncontested marks or get the ball at ground level as he was very agile and good below the knees. He isn't suited for the way we play atm and don't think it would be a lot better at Freo in the short-term.

I think he has the capability to provide a similar role as say Gunston, although not the same calibre, a good medium/tall forward takes a lot of pressure off the full forward, if your second and third tier options blow then the defenders are going to sag off and congest the go-to target.

I am not all that fussed who is into him, I'd like to see him have another crack on a personal level, I don't expect a potential trade will result in much worth looking forward to wherever he goes.

Some of the best kicks in the league have come from the rookie list. Look no further than last weeks Norm Smith Medalist for a start. The dogs actually had quite a few players who started out as rookies playing last weekend. Dahlhaus, JJ, Morris, Boyd, Picken, Biggs for a start. If fully fit and eligible to play both Suckling and Crameri make that best 22, maybe even Redpath as well. We aren't just talking about role players/bottom six types. The first two would be in the top 5-6 for kicking at the dogs, as would Suckling.
Can't really see us doing pick deals for Litherland. Hill maybe. Do you really think Litherland is worth much?
I'd value him as a early 3rd rounder

If we get kersten and mccarthy i see our foward line like this.

Hf: Bennell Mccarthy Kersten
ff: Walters Apeness(rotate with sandi) Yarran

Wafl: Tabs (depth for mccarthy, Kersten)

Griff and Carke(depth for Apeness and sandi)

On paper looks good. Arguably the slowest player there is ape, im hoping he gets his fitness up cause griff and clarke are shit as the resting foward.

Afl.com.au suggests Geelong aren't looking at contracting Kersten which suggests PSD is a good possibility.

I'd like that. Between Apeness, Tabs, McCarthy and Kersten you can probably find a functional tall forward line. Not all at once of course but it creates competition and allows us to try different options.

No to Black, is contacted and we don't have the currency. Also potato level.

I think it would (under the circumstance where we had both) be McCarthy OR Kersten - Yarran plays tall and small and with the other Hill also likely to come in I think we would want the sixth forward to be a mid as well.

Kersten is more a medium tall like yarran. Bennell can rotate thru the middle. With walters and yarran with the crumbs. But as u said yarran can play tall too which makes him lethal.

Because Kersten and Black are champions of the game
Hey hey hey i didn't mention black.

I find taberner to be a fantastic athlete and seems to do the team thing. My problem is his football intuition(footy brain) he can never read the bounce of the ball. Kersten may be less of an athlete, but with more footy intuition and knowledge.

You don't have to compare the two to justify taking Kersten. There are things to like and dislike about both Tabs and Kersten but let's not make out that Kersten is better than he is because until very recently he's been pretty ordinary.

But tabs is still ordinary..and believe me im a fan of him.

Yeah I noticed that too, a can't we just sign him as a delisted free agent?
Though it would dilute any Mayne compo..

I don't think he has completed enough years of service to be classified as a 'free agent', even delisted. But as he's uncontracted I think you can go PSD.

I honestly have no idea though, could be talking shit.
