Fortunately if there is one position we can cover it is small forward. McGrath, Keays, Mathieson etc - noting many small midfielders start as small forwards
I'm not sure on that, he looks like a little kid out there and compared to Mathieson I reckon he is behind him in the order. I reckon Keays who played with my son is a bit light for the mid field yet.Looks like keays will get a round 1 debut.
In theory yes... but Green is our top goal kicker (as sad as it sounds), so while we may be able to slot someone straight in it's actually a fair hit to our scoring ability at this stage.

That's bad news.
It feels like the 2016 season started right there.
Clayton is one of about 8 who have done every drill at every session I've attended over the PS. Smoky for round one IMO.Young Clayton seemed to be training in that position, I was surprised as i couldn't work our who was doing so well and seemed to be so fast as a couple had their hats on. Mind you half the squad were on light duties but Clayton trained around all the tall forwards feet.
We won't know for sure until the games start, will we, SM?as Clayton really improved that much? A few months ago a some posters were calling for his de-listment... Of course it's great news if he has but I got the impression he was well behind almost everyone.
I think it's a bit hard to get a read on whether or not Clayton went any good in the reserves last year. Given he's a bit of an outside player/lead up flanker, I'd imagine it would have been hard to get much of a read on his ability last year when we had less than 10 listed players out there half the time and we're getting smashed most games.as Clayton really improved that much? yep. on lions tv danny daley was saying that they are managing players workloads very closely, not wanting them to over train and that what seems like a large re hab group at times is just management. i read it somewhere but can't seem to find it now when i want to link it but there are only 2 players unlikely to be available for round 1, cain hanley was 1, the other can't remember. There were a lot in the rehab group, half the squad at times but it was a bloody hot morning and the complex is back from the Maroochy River and there was no breeze. Other that Green there were no visible injuries and everyone seemed to have a jog around at some time. Just a lot of compression bandages on arms and legs. I think they are in pretty good shape and it was interesting to hear Leppa explain they are training doe Round 1 this year not the start of NAB Cup. I guess in athletic speak - they are in full fitness training now with the heaviest work load.

Admittedly I haven't seen him play live but I was just going off some posts I have read during the trade period so I thought he far behind the rest of the list in terms of development etc.We won't know for sure until the games start, will we, SM?
We seem to get a few foot fracture type injuries every season.
I am so sick of the amount of foot fracture / hot spot injuries we get each year. Maybe it's time to start up a Foot Fracture Watch thread.
Seriously though, I would swear we have a problem in this area compared to other clubs. If that is true I presume it is to do with the hard grounds we train on.
Whatever the reason, it should be one of the top priorities to significantly reduce the number of these types of injuries we get overall.
Are our training grounds really harder than in other parts of the country?
I think I read somewhere that Rich hurt his foot running on the hard ground back in Perth whilst on his break. Are our training grounds really harder than in other parts of the country?
Just a brief yes/no/cannot remember reply will suffice Mr R, was Liam Dawson one of the 8?Clayton is one of about 8 who have done every drill at every session I've attended over the PS. Smoky for round one IMO.
Is Rich training with defenders or midfielders? surely mids be a strong replacement for Redden/Aish
Pretty sure I saw photos of Liam Dawson on the rehab bikes through November/December.Just a brief yes/no/cannot remember reply will suffice Mr R, was Liam Dawson one of the 8?
Some years back I seem to recall some of our injuries were being blamed on the hard centre wicket area at the Gabba. Won't explain pre-season injuries but might be a factor in the ones' acquired during the season. Has the situation at the Gabba changed at all?
