This year is the year of "Finding The Future" or "Bringing The Future In" and i see the team looking pretty good for the future. I see the team building around the like of gunston, frawley/brand, TOB/Sicily shiels ect.

Now i may have some radical views on some and others not. We need to bring in an some players and get rid of some and i have a few ideas of who and how.

Hawks: Hill and 3rd rounder 2016. WCE: 2016 First rounder and 2017 second rounder
Hawks: Bruest (imo hardwick to replace) GWS: 2016 first rounder GWS 2 rounder 2016, Zac Williams
Hawks: GWS 2016 first rounder, GWS 2 rounder 2016, WCE 2016 First rounder GCS: O'Meara and Prestia
Hawks: Shoenmakers and Litherland Freo: 2nd rounder 2016

Then the future looks like:
B Grant Birchall, James Frawley, Ben Stratton
HB Shaun Burgoyne, Kaiden Brand, Josh Gibson
C Isaac Smith, Jordan Lewis, Billy Hartung
HF Blake Hardwick, , Jack Gunston, Luke Hodge
F Paul Puopolo, Tim O'Brien, Cyril Rioli
FOL Jonathon Ceglar, Sam Mitchell, Liam Shiels
I/C Jono O'Rouke, James Sicily , Taylor Duryea, Ben McEvoy

So to bring in we have O'Meara, Prestia, Howe, Lovell, Burton
The highlights who are coming of age or possibility of retirement.

P.S Rough out for 12 months but comes back in when he beats the cancer.

Open to fix ups or criticism

Why did you leave out Gunston and Sheils as trades?

That would make it a full set of our best young players!

West Coast paying overs there. Get rid of our 3rd and their 2nd and it's fair

Hawks: Bruest (imo hardwick to replace) GWS: 2016 first rounder GWS 2 rounder 2016, Zac Williams
Would rather 2x 1st rounders. Their '16 & '17 picks. Wouldn't trade Bruest though. 50+ goal small-forwards don't come around often at all. He's a treasure.

Hawks: Shoenmakers and Litherland Freo: 2nd rounder 2016
not enough imo. Needs to be something like
Schoenmakers, Litherland and 2016 3rd rounder for Freos 2016 & '17 2nd rounder

So Rioli and Smith are coming of age at 26 and 27? Yet Birchall and Poppy are all good to go with their age of 28?
Don't get it.

Forgot Williams or is he not good enough for our best 22?

I do like that Gold Coast trade for Prestia and O'Meara. With my changes we still have the picks to pull that one off. Hope it happens as i really want those 2.

Abasi? Thoughts?

Not exactly, we had to throw in a few a couple of steak knives of picks 38 and 40 to get that 1st rounder (plus 54).
All I'm saying is that if Wright can work out a trade involving Jed and end up with a first rounder (late but still) then it's not beyond the realm of possibility that we could get a first for Hill.
I'm not suggesting trading Hill because I don't really care to come up with some bullshit situation to argue about or circle jerk over

If Jetta is worth a starting ruckman and jed can work us a first then surely Hill is worth a first. Only need 1 club to have the ego to think they can turn his trajectory back around.

Heck a bunch of clubs thought their fitness crew was better than ours and could get jeds body right

Edit: not that i want to trade him

Straight swap for a ruckman... ego about superior fitness?
Hill to PA for Ryder?

Hello, North Melbourne!:D

Those not liking the sound of trading Hill should note that his stats for meters gained up to halftime against Melbourne were 1m.

What about full time? He turned his game around after clearly copping a spray.
Very avo for mine, slow starts are a major concern and this blokes inability to get going early is part of that. Yeah three time premiership player blah blah blah, you know the rest.

You've qualified for the Brad Hill Haters Club!

Did you actually cheer when he kicked that goal or did you just grind your teeth?

Stop it Davo23, you should know better!

Why does Breust's name always come up in these threads? I can understand Hill given the rumours he may want to go home but can't understand why Breust is suddenly trade bait in people's minds.
Because people have no clue about football. They think Breust is purely a product of the teams success and can be replaced by anyone else without any real impact.
Yesterday's game day thread included a suggestion that Breust was a very selfish footballer who didn't play for the team, he's averaging 2 goals a game without Roughie in, his career average is 2 goals a game.
Apparently because he hasn't dropped off without Roughie down there he hasn't improved and if you're not getting better you're trade bait and a waste of a spot on this board sometimes.

He kicked 2.3 and had one drop short yesterday, could easily have kicked 4.1 probably should have been 3.2 at the very least but he did his job and took some good marks and helped create another couple of goals including that special effort that resulted in Stewart's first major.

Has gone backwards a bit in my view also, tries to be too cute with how he plays. That said, in the second half his pressure and intent was something he'd lacked all year. He was tackling and chasing hard and also providing run. I'd probably day he's gotten close to being dropped at some stage this year but if he brings the effort he showed in the second half in future games he'll be s certain starter.

Brad hasn't had the best year and he seems to be going at half pace and have little confidence or any interest in going near an opponent half the time.
But he also runs himself into the ground with repeat efforts and along with Hartung and Smith allows us to blow up opponents without blowing up the Hawks interchange rotations. Is it any wonder with all 3 in we seem to get strong in the fourth than our opposition?
Only way I see Brad getting traded at this stage is if he wants out because he is certainly part of Clarko's plans

People seem to have this impression that his type is a dime-a-dozen. But I think that's people thinking his "type" is the 'budding midfielder who plays as a small-medium forward because they haven't been quite good enough to make the full-time switch yet' type. When in reality he's actually a career forward who can pinch hit through the midfield. Outside of key forwards it's relatively rare to have a player kicking 50+ goals a year. Last year only 4 did it. 2 the year before that.
