Under that logic we should be able to include 46 for another second but it doesn't work like that.

I'd be happy to trade pick 6 + 46 + next years second

For pick 24 + 26

1751 + 677 + 331

Less

785 + 729

Equals

1245 ~ pick 12
Still giving up pick 6 though, and I assume you'd then use your pick 12 for Prestia. All the angst in this thread has been about giving this up. How do you justify that?

Hi Guys as some of you would've seen in the last trading thread I emailed the club on the issue of pick 6. This is their response today. While I appreciate that they replied to me, I can't say the response was good.

"As incompetent as we are, we all want to see the club succeed in reaching its ceiling of 9th.

Our Football Department spends considerable time analysing every position on our list, lubing up and undertaking extensive research on any potential recruit to reach that goal of 9th.

Thanks for your email and if you need anything else please don't hesitate to contact the membership department or Lubemobile "

I wouldn't give up pick 6 and happily miss Prestia knowing we're going to get one of the best young talents in the country. This is what our team needs, not an injury prone midfielder who is one of the 'team leaders' from a poor performing / ill-disciplined team.

When I was a baby my mum went bushwalking not long after I was born, just on a little walk. As she was walking along she felt a stabbing pain in one of her breasts; she had absent mindedly strolled into a tree with very sharp, bur-like fruit (similar to a large bindi-eye). The pain was immense. She clutched her breast and immediately thought of me, swaddled back at the house, utterly dependent upon her. A wave of guilt overcame her and she rushed back to the house to hold me as I slept. Everything continued as it had been, hardly domestic bliss but there was a sense of excitement in the house, a sense of beginning and new life. I slept and fed and slept as my mum doted over me.

A few days passed and I began to cry. Colic? Reflux? Surely not teething... Then I began to cry incessantly. My father began to despise me. He would stay at work for as long as possible while mum, so young, fussed and stressed, unsure whether to take me to the hospital; if it was nothing the doctors would look at her with eyes that accused: you are a naive child. More days passed until one night I vomited blood. Screams, sirens, terror, as I was admitted into the paediatrics emergency ward following an enormously expensive helicopter ride.

Unbeknown to all, that tree that yielded the offending fruit was the rare but dangerous soliva fisalius, which has a mild poisonous coating to deter the local fauna. My mum's breast was undergoing a kind hidden, gangrenous death. The muscle and the fat was almost melting. And the muscle and the fat and the pus and the blood was at first mixing with, and then replacing, her breastmilk. For almost a week my only sustenance was my mothers dying flesh...

This trade period is worse than that.
Boob Radley? More like Boob poisoning.

So effectively Prestia and Nankervis for pick 6.

Pick 44 to go to Sydney for Nankervis

Gives us pick 24 and pick 27 to take to the draft. Whilst not ideal it's not the worst either.

Port have traded to get 3 picks in the top 30 as they reckon its reasonably deep.

Here's hoping we can fluke a few come draft night

:sigh:

I'm just going to wait and see how it all plays out.. But at the end of the day if we end up with:

Prestia and 24 for 6 and future 2nd
Caddy for Deledio +24
Nankervis for 27

We basically lose all those trades by a lot!!

When you compare what we could've given up if we chased Mitchell, Steele & Witts (who would provide reasonably similar output), we are completely getting Reamed!

Our first move of trade week once GC said that our 2017 1st rounder wouldn't cut it should have been to offer that to all clubs for a 1st rounder this year and if that didn't work we should've traded 6 for 2 picks a 12-15 and a 18-20ish pick. Instead we wasted 8 days and now will go back and give up our initial pick 6... that's what frustrates all our supporters

The problem I have if it goes this way is that it is believed they stick with Hardwick because they believed he had done the best he could with not a lot, and hadn't had a chance with a good quality list.
That's all good and well but to then
Have a review and stick with him is one thing.
But to then also stick with the same people that assembled that list???
What the **** is that?
So they now throw picks away to try to go for a quick fix?
These campaigners will ruin this club forever if they can. It's pretty much the same thing as Dan Richardson stupidly said when he said "our members" wouldn't have accepted the long haul.
Are they going to trot that out again in a few years are they?
Have some balls. If they really believed in Hardwick they should have come out and said that we are doing a form of rebuild and he's staying so the fans will have to just deal with it.
What type of a strategy is it to get a few players in, have bugger all picks inside 50, none in top 20, finish maybe just maybe bottom of the 8 most likely 9-12.
Then continue on this amazing "re-set" with pick 12 or something and no second rounder......
Give me a spell.
It's that farcical that I'm glad I typed it out because in my mind there is no possible way it could be true.

Thing is. If we are going to just give 6 away, where obviously not rebuilding. But where only bringing in 1 player? I mean prestia is a gun when fit but is he the difference between us and a flag? No. So why not go all out then. Bring in prestia, caddy, rockcliff, toby, williams. Go all out while our best are still at peak. Or even grab a bunch of gws boys pickett steel ahern Stewart because they are going for peanuts. Strange strategy. It seems the list is in no mans land.

Agree. Why go half assed about it either way.But thats not our way.

Bit of a green-top today?

Lol, i have heard we are opening with McKosker and Wood. GC are opening the bowling with Garner and Holding. Andy Roberts and Marshall are first change. Put it that way.

Changes do need to be made, but not to our top 8 good players.
Our top up moneyball approach has yielded virtually nothing in the past 4 years, except detract from good picks which could have got much better players.
The current cattle can't get the job done because we have a putrid game style & it wouldn't matter how good the players are.
We are top heavy from 25 - 28 with B graders & it looks like we will keep bringing them in.
We have not invested in the drafts enough, to give ourselves a chance of finding guns.
There is another at least 10 other reasons why we were crap last year, but this probably isn't the thread for those.

I partially agree. Its slightly unfair to the recruiters. Yarran was a good idea. Adding to our speed around the ground, it would have been a different team. On the other hand if we didn't due our due dilligence on him then that is another balls up. We do have Rioli & lots of other guys who got a taste of senior footy last year and hopefully we can build on that. We have a young list & I don't mind the idea of bringing in young players this year.

Its shaping up like Prestia is going to be with us next year. I'm coming around to the idea. Not really happy about it for pick 6, only for the fact that we have not had much success with injury prone draftees. E.g. Yarran, Knights (Adelaide)

I was just suggesting an alternative to what was posted.

I don't care if we give up 6 to be honest but I think giving up 6 should set up a bunch of other trades.

I think we made a big mistake starting negotiations at Pick 27 + a player, when we should have just said we will give you pick 6 + 46 for Prestia + 26 + 30(when they had it). We should have been firm in our. Negotiations saying that is the only way you get 6 otherwise we'll use it for other trades and offer you a later first.

Our negotiation technique has been very poor if the rumoured trade(s) occur.

Get ready to part the cheeks lads, we're going to get reamed today. We're stuck with a dud coach, our list is a mess, our drafting is a shambles - but we have stability at the club. Go team, Gold and Black, Black and Gold. My club. :thumbsu:

100% agree.

Doesn't make a heap of sense.

I am a little annoyed that we haven't been more creative.
