Chris25 , have you seen much of Witherden ?

I've seen a bit of him, and looking forward to watching him more this year. I have him firmly entrenched in the first round, particularly if he plays in the midfield more than last season. Bit of a Brodie Smith type half back, carries the ball well and has excellent disposal. Supposedly he should measure in a little taller than the 184cm that I have him at, so that only helps his cause too.

Thanks for that.. in a year that looks good for mids him being a talent worthy of R1 would make him ideal for us... shame we have no R1 this year (atm). You have Galluci just one ahead of him ..this year must have some fantastic mid talent !!!

If Ben Harman nominates us under father son where would you expect the bids to start coming in at?

I'd probably have him in the 40-60 range, so somewhere in the third round. But having said that, he's already made his league debut in the SANFL this year so he should be all set for a big Championships. He's very skillful, so should catch a few eyes and could climb up into the second.

Thanks for your response Chris. I tend to agree with you that we are a bit thin on for inside mids but I also think that it is a lot easier to pick up inside mids later in the draft opposed to quick, skilful players.

Do you see Rotham from WA a chance for us? he's an interesting prospect and I'm hoping he can grow a couple of cms.

Is there any KPD that could potentially be around towards the back end of the draft? I'm guessing that we will probably looking to grab one as we a re pretty light on in that department also. I'm hoping that we will also rookie a ruck project player as well.

I would think Rotham is a big chance for us in the first round, looks to be setting himself up as one of the better KPPs and is a local boy too. It all depends on how active we are in trade week and free agency, but if we kept our first than he'd be high on the list. Would be nice if he grew another inch or so, but he defends and runs well. Another natural tall down back will never go astray.

As for the late round prospecs, I always say it's best to wait until the Championships for them. Particularly with key defenders, it's sometimes hard to pick who will play and who wont. SA will often pluck a player or two from obscurity and give them a chance to shine. Lachlan Cameron is one such kid from SA to watch there. Otherwise as mentioned above with the likes of Sam White and Braidon Blake.

Thanks for the reply.
Does he play anything like his dad? If not who is he like?

Chris - Freo looks like getting a top pick at last. Should they grab Petrovski-Seton if available or go for a tall?

If Petrevski-Seton was somehow available at Fremantle's pick, then they'd have to take him. Surely we won't finish that low though...

Going small might not be popular, but he's the most talented player in the draft. And it doesn't matter who we have up forward if our skills remain this poor and we have such a distinct lack of run. At this point, the chances of us taking a tall with our first pick are dropping simply because it looks to be a midfielders draft at the top.

Thanks for the reply.

He certainly has the trademark Jarman skills and game sense. If I had to say, he's probably a bit Fasolo like. Doesn't have the same strength or body time, but is that small and enigmatic forward but not your typical crumbing small.

What round do you think Luke Strnadica will go at this stage? Really like the look of him. Super agile for 199cm

Because of your knowledge of your SA players, what do you think/know of Brayden Kirk and Sam Dyer from North Adelaide? Dyer kicked afew goals this year and Kirk has been in best every round

Over two months since I posted that, so it's just a little outdated. I should probably get around to updating it.
interested in Rotham. Few draft experts have big wraps on him. Havent seen much of him play but looks like he reads the play well.

The stupidity of the Giants if they recieved anything less would be on par with us even trading for adam Cooney

Depends how high our pick is. If we finished with a high enough I'd rather Freo go for Petrovski-Seton than trade for Mccarthy. 1 good half season doesn't upgrade Mccarthy to a top 5 pick.

Imho, McCarthy is never going to play for the Giants again. A second rounder wont suffice and one would hope the Dockers wont be in the bottom handful of teams come September which wont be a top 5 pick.

Surely you jest.

If you had a top 3 pick - would you??
No - McCarthy is an amateurish non professional - doesn't fit the culture of a professional club. Should have served his time at the Giants and not spat his dummy. Will team well with Harley Bennell in the future ...... even though that will be several rungs down the ladder !!!

Chris follow up.. They did a review of Road to the Draft this week. They sort gave the impression he is lacking speed. Is that fair?

It's fair to a degree. In that I don't expect he'll test overly well. But having said that, I don't think it's necessarily something that should hold him back because it isn't something he relies on. He still moves and carries the ball well - David Mundy for example isn't very fast, but he started out as a running half back because he had the composure and vision to know where to run to.

Also, I should have an update to my rankings in the next few days. Will probably be quite different to what it is now - the big risers are Kobe Mutch, Andrew McGrath and Daniel Venables. But for an early look at my top 10...

1. Sam Petrevski-Seton - 180cm, 73kg midfielder from Claremont Tigers
2. Harrison Macreadie - 195cm, 82kg defender from Henty (GWS)
3. Jack Bowes - 187cm, 76kg midfielder from Surfers Paradise (Gold Coast)
4. Hugh McCluggage - 184cm, 70kg midfielder from North Ballarat Rebels
5. Jonty Scharenberg - 185cm, 77kg midfielder from Glenelg
6. Jarrod Berry - 190cm, 80kg defender from North Ballarat
7. Will Brodie - 187cm, 80kg midfielder from Murray Bushrangers
8. Ben Ainsworth - 177cm, 73kg midfielder/forward from Gippsland Power
9. Jacob Allison - 193cm, 73kg midfielder from Aspley (Brisbane)
10. Josh Rotham - 192cm, 76kg defender from West Perth
