Pelchen wouldnt know much about Poholke ..... but at this stage of the year, even us supporters don’t know who’ll step up ..... so Pelchen is no different to any outsider who cant access training
You are so, so wrong with regard to Chris Pelchen mate, Pelchen runs the Star Network Team, fair bet he and his team know a fair bit more than most about all the U18, U16 talent coming through including Poholke's junior history .

In regard to Pelchen, he may know the Players But he forgetting the Coaches, How much of the Crows finishing 5th and then 2nd is Players and How much is Coach,
Let's face it he praises Richmond for the Gameplan while saying the list is not strong, Could one not put up the same argument for the Crows.
Also, He knows the Under 18 and Vic based club depth but he sometimes forgets the SANFL, WAFL, NEAFL depth players.

Most of the Experts are falling into the same trap with Lever leaving as they did when Dangerfield left.

I’m not wrong .... have a look again at Pelchins company brief ... nothing to do with existing AFL club lists

Do the research then discuss

I disagree big time, Pelchen's C.V. and knowledge of what's required for AFL alone puts him right up there with the best in the business.....and Star have numerous part time scouts along with 6 full time scouts if you think he's not very much across the interstate state leagues as well as the juniors you are mistaken.

He has made a lot of mistakes then, Also Mark Hogan scouts are at the games were the Under 18 are Playing, and watching them, while taking notes. Don't always see them at the Crows games unless there is a particular kid they are looking at.
Notice he rarely mentions a 2nd-year kid. And to be honest Doedee and Pohokle names should have been mention after there 2017 SANFL year.
As for judging under 18's I believe he one of the best. Cannot fault him in that area.
I Just don't believe he calls these preseason predictions right, a Personnal opinion that all.

It would have to be off the charts good for him to play I reckon.

I reckon we will see some different structures, and maybe a Himmelberg during the pre season games.

Different structures? You've got to be kidding. We have one structure and the only potential replacements need to have trained in it for the entire preseason otherwise they're not eligible for a role. We'll pigeon hole the closest player in height into Tex's role. Nothing is more certain from our coaching group.

We didn't to open up round 1 last year.

Won't be exposed near as much defensively with McGovern's return to the side IMO.....reports Andy's lightened off this pre-season if right could also help with his speed and agility somewhat.

He needed to beef up to be better equipped to play key forward or back. Slimming down puts him in no mans land. He'll never be nimble, agile, have a leap or speed. He's a nothing if he can't compete to some degree against bigger bodies and should be consigned to the scrap heap. Getting smaller is counterproductive. At least we know that he's still in pole position to cover Gov and probably first choice to replace Lever.

Otto was already replacing Lever down back in round 1. We were out of options so had to throw up a Hail Mary. No such problems so far this year. Although, Otto is probably penned in for Lever's role now that he's slimmed down. So you might be right.
Hardly a Hail Mary & was a different structure that won easily against a top team.

Not out of the realms of possibility we would use again if Tex is injured.

You're such a cynical human

Had Lever not been injured do you really think we'd have played Otto in the 2's and still gone with the different structure. It's ok to admit that you forgot to take into account that OTTO wasn't an option because he was already playing down back.

The bad stats: Where your club struggled in 2017

ADEL-2.jpg

KEY STAT RESULT LEAGUE RANK
Centre clearance differential -1.1 #16
Kicking efficiency 64.5% #16
Forward 50 groundball gets differential -4.3 #17
SUMMARY
The arrival of star recruit Bryce Gibbs should help the Crows in winning centre clearances. It was an area of their game that they struggled at last year, ranking 16th in the League for centre clearance differential (-1.1). That is, they averaged 1.1 less centre clearances than their opposition per game. The Crows' kicking efficiency was also low (16th, 64.5 per cent), but this could come down to game style. Instead of chipping the ball around and maintaining possession, the Crows moved the ball quickly and took risks through the corridor. The Crows' small forwards need to do a better job of winning the ball on the deck, ranking 17th in forward 50 groundball-gets differential, at -4.3 per game.

Hi All,

Wondering if anyone has heard word of the crows running an intra-club this season and if it will be accessible like the hawks, or even televising it like the bombers are doing as I type this. The bombers telecast is excellent with great insight (casting it to my TV right now).

It would be great if the club offered something like this as it would also create some more discussion of tangible things that all have seen this pre-season rather than the rare rumour or occasional photo. Our club is way behind here in the opportunity to engage with fans. Is it really such as tactical advantage to be so secret squirrell? Clearly the hawks and bombers don't think so.

Really? You're having a go about not televising something that there's no evidence of even occurring. We've become accustomed to being locked out of everything anyway, nobody would expect access to an intra-club.

Come on Elite you are better than that, there are plenty of smart arses on here without you joining them. I doubt club get to be that open , but this has been the most secretive pre season that I have seen since being on this site.
Usually get lots of coverage who doing what from posters .
Completely untrue. This pre-season could be considered more open than last year, with the week long camp on the gold coast being accessible. Last year most fans seemed to be happy that we had moved to doing everything through the pre-season behind closed doors and gave no access to the media. It's just that this year the whinging has increased because little to no information is made available to the public and we don't know who is tracking well, who is dealing with niggling injuries etc. My view hasn't changed from last year. I'm happy that we only release to the media the info we want made public, and deal with everything else behind closed doors.

Just and SC/DT nut who is doing pre-season research and came across the bombers game and would love to watch something similar with the crows.

Does anyone who doesn't think I'm Kane Cornes know if we are having an intra club this year and if it will be on the club site?

Crows don't tend to video the intraclub games as they are stop-start,
They have allowed free access to trial games outside the AFL programming ie Crows 2nd vs GWS 2nds last year.
Also, they have in the past video some of the SANFL trial games. Crows vs Port trail come to mind, But they need permission to allow public access to these videos from the SANFL which is not always a given.
