Highest attended grand final since 1986 (Hawthorn V Carlton 101,861), Highest in the AFL era. last time i'll ever acknowledge this grand final.

The actual capacity is a lot more than 100,021 If you looked closely there were vacant seats scattered all round the G esp the Members so IF every seat was occupied I suggest the cap would be close to 101,000 of course that is unlikely to happen because there are always no shows. The MCC could also allow more standing room if they wanted to.

Keep in mind that not everyone is in their seats at the same time. I noticed empty seats scattered around at times but the stadium looked completely full at the opening bounce.

There was a mysterious 2 or 3 empty rows at the very top of the Ponsford Stand in the last public bay next to the MCC. Not sure what happened to those. Stayed empty the whole game.

No Sydney team but again pleasantly surprised by Brisbane. There are enough viewers there to ensure that the Lions and the suns will be well supported when they inevitably rise up the ladder again.

And what a fabulous atmosphere that came through the TV Just saw Jack Riewoldt sing on stage with the Killers after match show and it looked like 30- 40,000 stayed around to see the players. Just magical scenes. Now we need Carlton to come good and play finals.

You are a good poster Our Game and I welcome almost all of your comments.

Now having said that I suggest you go to a quiet room and lie down for a while. The nervous stress will probably pass without medical intervention.

Thanks for your concern but Im ok just revelling in the post match glow of the greatest game on earth and sure my late father would be happy as a Tiger fan
These are the inspiring moments that our wonderful game throws up that we should no matter what club we support embrace and cherish.

Im quite surprised the Melbourne figure dropped I would have expected it to go up.

The regionals will be interesting and good to see a decent figure in Sydney on a Sat afternoon and yes bring on the twilight GF next year.

Your late dad was a Tiger?.

Father and son rules apply in The Tiger Army OG. You are always welcome to take your inheritance in the ranks.

The Yellow and black legions always welcome back our own.

Think about it. A seat on the Train back with your people.

Wow those ratings are huge and the NRL won't be able to compete with that.

It is already fact that the NRL can never sell out its grand final and it would need Parramatta in the grand final for you to know it was on in Sydney.

Parramatta fans can be cruel and hurtful to outsiders so they are not worth worrying about anyway.

It has been a huge year for football and Richmond winning yesterday made it astronomical all over Australia.

What teams are left to break decent droughts now. Adelaide 20 years, St Kilda 51-52 years, Carlton 22 years and Melbourne.

The Doggies and Tigers are now off the list.

Looks like apart from 2010 GF replay, Sydney recorded its highest ratings for non Swans grand final. The Melbourne ratings were softer than I thought they'd be. I suppose the game was over a few minutes into the last quarter whereas that wasn't the case last year. Maybe more people especially the large army of Tigers supporters either watching at Punt Road Oval or packing out pubs more so than the smaller Dogs supporter base may contribute to this also.

Yep Twilight GF odds probably a bit shorter next year especially if the success of the Prelim twilight games have anything to go by.

Jack was fashionable on stage and this wouldn't be allowed to happen in other sports.

I still think the Dogs win last year was bigger.

I think it was teenage rebel in me that took me to the Cats all the rest of the family were Dogs fans and with the old man who was born in Seddon he was also seen as a traitor.

On sheer neutral support the dogs win will be the biggest I think we will ever see in our game.
I do think the story is just as great, for completely different reasons and they can’t really be compared

The ratings aren't "huge", rather disappointing TBH.

Sydney figure beat Adelaide but in fairness there were so many Crows fans who travelled for the game. The Melbournes figure may have been effected by so many Tiger fans at the MCG at Punt Rd and around the pubs

Are tv ratings even accurate when it comes to the Grand Final? Everyone I know watching the game were watching it in groups of excess of 6+.

My thoughts exactly, doesn't take into account the 15,000 down at punt road or 4,000 at the adelaide oval watching on the big screen
