The discussion is continued in Part II:

======

So here it is, the thread where we discuss who we'll get with pick 3 after Hawthorn take a Freo-like slide!

Good article here by DonPatchSword, I mean Cal Twomey, to kick things off.

Really does sound like this draft might live up to the hype:

Nice!

I'm waiting for Barrels to nominate his boys so I can jump on the bandwagon and pretend that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to the 2017 batch of draftees!!

A facebook draft page I follow just put up this 2017 Extremely Early Top 20 which may be useful for now, particularly when figuring our first round pick and Hawks first round pick.

Hunter Clark is at 7 who trained with us and seems like a very nice prospect with a lot of talls around him. Clavarino might be appropriate given a lack of defensive depth on our end.

I'm a big fan of Hunter Clark, lot of very good attributes and is dual sided.

Rayner's the next Dusty (on field) wouldn't be surprised at all if he's to 5 or top 3 by year's end. Balta to bolt into that top 20 too. Put together a TAC highlights video of him up about a month back, late year birthday so was 16 the whole season.

Rayner's big issue is he's lazy as a sloth on Valium.

Big fan of Hunter Clark, Jaidyn Stephenson and Joel Garner.

Love young Toby Wooller from Oakleigh too, but with Bruce, Membrey, Battle, McCartin and Marshall all under 25 we simply don't need him.

James Worpel and Luke Davies-Uniacke are beasts too, but again we have Dunstan, Ross, Steele and Acres under 25 who play predominately inside roles.

Any chance of grabbing both the Hunter Clarks with our two first rounders? :D

Hunter Clark is so good you mention him twice!! ;););)

So what positions do Clark, Stephenson and Garner play?

EDIT terrible post - I Sandra Sullied myself and missed Significants post which answered my question

Hang your head in shame Smoke!!

Who would be a shiel or ateven type? Electric speed with a good inside game.

There are two Hayes in the list though so a couple of those would be nice to go along with Hunter Clark until Hunter Hayes is ready.

Lochie O'Brien please. Although I've only watched a few hours of this draft pool....
He would be an amazing get for us, suiting our needs in a big way (especially if we landed a Fyfe/Martin through FA), but I think we really would need Hawthorn to finish bottom 3 or thereabouts for us to be a chance of drafting him, unless we trade up in the draft (which might cost us two first rounders).

Ummm... very VERY roughly...

Stephenson - Membrey*
Garner - Gresham (taller)
Clark - Newnes (slightly bigger)
O'Brien - Billings (but not a fwd)
Wooller - Battle
Worpel - Armitage

*in that he's an undersized target forward, but he's more dynamically athletic and not as strong. Could play anywhere.

Keep an eye out for Lewin Davis at Bendigo Pioneers this year too, he's a family friends kid and his uncle reckons he's a gun, he had a cousin play at Collingwood for a while but didn't make it but this one's meant to be a beauty from all reports. Played against men up in Mildura so should be tough as well.
