If there’s an Eddy type prospect in three years (or if there was a similar player aged around 24-25 this year - which there isnt) and we still need a KPF I’d give the bloke a go. Recruiting him now would mean he’s just taking spots from developing KPPs though. I’d say that both McCarthy and Taberner actually showed more in actual AFL games this year anyway tbh - just not consistently.

I’d stick to what probably is the plan anyway. Best available 2&5, needs afterwards. Someone like Dixon or Krueger will slip to 42.

If GWS are the interested team then they benefit from having more list spots for the draft in order to use points for academy picks, they can pick up these players at the end of the draft anyway.

Its a quirk of the way the academy system works.

Spot on. All picks used for points (ie multiple picks cobbled together for earlier bid matching need to be used in the AFL draft. Hence they picked up Matt DeBoer at 58 in 2016 ND and word is that Suban will join him as a late pick in the 2017 ND.

Re: Zac Clarke and Sam Collins they might be left until Rookie Draft. Zarke’s injury issues will see him slide to the Rookie draft if at all.
