Membership numbers don't go down, especially not from our base, in the age of professional membership departments and marketing teams. Most of the effort and cost is in attaining new members, getting existing members to re-sign is a relatively simpler task. I will eat my hat if we have less members next year, even if it grows marginally. That's what makes last year amazing; in one amazing year the baseline gets raised substantially in percentage terms, which keeps on growing steadily through more "normal" and even down years.

Could be pushback for how they retired their veterans as much as any expected drop-off in performance however.

That, and to a much lesser extent the end of the North Ballarat alignment last year, very well might have contributed to a large portion of the drop off. But I think being a terrible side this year was a big part of the drop off.

Yeah look I was probably a touch enthusiastic, it's definitely possible, just think that the clubs are very good at retaining even if people downgrade package, all the while building the base through their school and community programs, along with our increased exposure through prime time and afl marketing.

North had a lot of non north supporters buy memberships during their debt/relocation fightback scheme a few years back. I reckon these members drop away when the warm and fuzzies dry up.

Just got a confirmation email from the club thanking my missus for becoming a member and informing that her membership pack is on its way. Thing is she signed up day after the grand final and has been using the contents of her membership pack, which we got before the season started ,all year so far. A little confused right now.

With a database of over 47,000 members, sometimes things will go a little astray.

Well i havent been charged for it twice so just going to treat it as a mistake for now.
