2015 Annual Reporting Season
This thread is Moderated by The_Wookie and he has posted Club Reports here on #445
Shows Port made a profit $211,302
2016 Port made another small profit but figure not available yet
Interesting reading about Clubs true profit/loss..
https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/2015-annual-reporting-season-now-complete.1117322/page-18
How come for many of the key areas, Port is the only club not to release their numbers?

What are they trying to hide by not disclosing a full set of statements...

Hi everyone . Give Port a break. It a great challenge. I don't like SA government sponsorship but improving your band is something all clubs should strive for. I do think the deal is biased towards GCS. They jumped on to it seeing their ground is unavailable.

Don't think many are criticising Port for expanding games to China... but had enough of them blatantly making up they are funding the show, including paying Gold Coast.

I've made a lot of statements. You just focus on the ones that I've got wrong

A few things though:

1. It's not my fault Hinkley thought the game was going to slow down and become more one on one. All my predictions were predicated on the fact that we were going to stay with the same gameplan we originally used offensively - quick ball movement in transition - and simply add a better defensive system to it. Instead, we wasted our entire preseason on building endurance to cope with an interchange cap issue that never came and allowed poor teams to exploit our lack of power running.

2. It's not my fault that we had so many injuries and suspensions last year - injuries to key planks of our transition and not to generic half back flankers and inside mids like the Bulldogs had. Oh, and to one of their exceptional key forwards that they obviously base their entire gameplay around since they could put in a kid and still win the flag.

3. It's not my fault that Lobbe is either a spud, was injured, or both, severely hampering our ability to win hitouts against sides without a decent ruck and compete against those that did have one. I said that he needed to get back to his 2014 form if we were to have a chance. He didn't.

4. It's not my fault that our players threw in the towel last season when it was obvious that a decent ruck would have made things easier, and that they just treaded water for the year instead of seeing it as an opportunity.

5. It's not my fault that every single side in the finals fell over allowing the Dogs to win the softest premiership of all time based on how many free kicks they won, allowing them to compensate for their poor general play through transition to attack. How they won so many free kicks when Sydney is also a contested side and gave away so many free kicks for the exact same reason I'll never know.

7. It's not my fault that Adelaide's season was structured in such a way that you got all your hard games out of the way in the front half of the season so that when it came to the back half you could still easily win against the bottom 10 teams while you slowed down.

Robin Williams was wrong

It IS your fault!

Collingwood to challenge for the top four in 2017.
Rather random, left field post with zero prompting. I like it. I think they are miles off top 4 as well, and more likely to be challenging for a top 4 draft pick as suggested. Treloar is a star and will be even better again this year, but massive, gaping holes all over the rest of the ground.

The pies have a ridiculously stacked midfield, which they've continued too work on. While leaving what are essentially bogan witches hats at either end of the ground.

Equal at best or more likely Below St. Kilda/Melbourne/Port imo

Wow, it only took the AFL one and a half day during the off-season to try to work out how to spin the story

"Wood's tweet was retweeted more than 1000 times and had more than 2700 likes. Most of the replies were strong in their support, however some queried whether he would be prepared to play for less money if the gaming industry pulled its financial support for the game."

oh, found the bit where they try to play it up.

First time I've seen a player say something ballsy for a while that i can think of.
This is great. Gambling is so engrained, it's going to be tough to change. But I'm glad the ethical hypocrisy of the AFL is being highlighted.

As for the sponsorship thing. A vacuum will bring in sponsorship from other industries. That's almost a given.

And of the Western Bulldogs $5+Million gross profit from Pokie Machines in 2015??
And god knows how much in 2016.

If we've paid to get the home game rights transferred, then it is our home game.
AFL say no
Suns in their strip you in your away strip

"Gold Coast is listed first on the AFL’s 2017 fixture and the Suns said they expected to wear their home strip.

The AFL confirmed the two clubs would wear their respective home-and-away strips as per any regular season clash, meaning the Suns will step out in red and gold on May 14."

They were told if they work hard they will have success.

They worked hard for two years and failed.

That playing group have reverted back to the lazy sods they were under Primus.

It is far deeper than that.

The Port hierarchy, the coaches, the supporters and half the media have overrated a very, very ordinary list for the last 3 years. At one stage there I was getting depressed because this team with soooooooo much talent was headed for a dynasty to rival that of geelong and Hawks. I snapped out of that depression when I took a look at the list and thought 'say whaaaa??'

It's the lack of talent that's the problem, and I hope they continue on their delusional path believing the 'we've got a top four list' fantasy.

It seems "you" (AFL/Port/SA Govt/Shanghia Cred whoever who cares) paid the Gold Coast to be the home team in Shanghai. Hence the AFL ruling on jumper and the way it is presented in the schedule with GC named first.

You may be allowed to do your scarf waving act over there though.

You will also have Port Adelaide/SA logo signage over there as well.

But it is technically Gold Coast's home game. The actual game wont make money, the gates will be open to people living there like the Womans games. The only people paying to get in will be those buying tickets now as part of travel packages. Plus the cost to fix the stadium and surface will far outweigh revenue earnt So in terms of revenue from the game that aspect of a home game is irrelevant.
