Who?

North

I created a company owned by Wayne Carey called Carey Promotions Pty Ltd. Wayne contractually sold his Intellectual Property (his identity, likeness etc) to the company for $2. The company then licensed WC's IP to Flying Start (my company) for exclusive exploitation. I then licensed Wayne's IP to North for $400,000 non exclusively.

So Carey got paid $600k out of the salary cap and North then paid another $400k to ricky nixons company outside of the cap that went to a company owned by Carey.

Did his IP extend to watermarked fotos?

Fascinating as always. They know their time is done so they're randomly throwing their cards in the air and hoping

I guess it's a wonder how anyone so clueless won anything
Is this what you define as risk taking is it? Strange response.

Hawks yet again the beneficiaries of a new AFL rule though this reeks more of a VFL rule , similar [1 month ago] to the dodgy draft rules that allowed then to rort the future picks rules....virtually a free kick for the Hawks.

Certainly an athletically gifted kid with a lot of potential upside if things pan out well.
The Hawks have reached an in-principle agreement for emerging teenage ruckman Olango - born in a Kenyan refugee camp - to join the club as an academy player, taking advantage of a recent AFL rule tweak.

The league last month advised clubs of a change to the status of multicultural players living in Darwin under Next Generation academy rules.

Darwin had not originally been allocated to a club under the Next Generation rule because of the city's history of developing AFL players, however the five clubs with Next Generation zones in the Northern Territory - Geelong, Essendon, Collingwood, Melbourne and the Hawks - are now able to nominate multicultural players living in Darwin for their respective academies. The players are then eligible to be drafted by the clubs at a 20 per cent discount, using the same bidding system in place for the NSW and Queensland clubs' academies and father-son selections.

Thanks for that, too.
As far as the Shanghai home game / home ground is concerned Gold Coast was not asked to 'give up' per se but to sell certain game-control rights to one of their eleven 2017 home games which has been relocated to Shanghai. This arrangement has been credited as 'innovative' according to global standards by a London sports business magazine.
The transfer sum involved I have seen / heard quoted as a minimum of $400k and a maximum of $600k.
As things stand the funding (via PAFC) for this, plus the balance of the cost of the Round 8 project, originates mainly from AusGOLD Mining, who are the main Match sponsors as well as Open To The World programme sponsors, and also from Mr Gui Guojie who signed the MoU in Shanghai in April 2016 with Gil McLachlan and Keith Thomas, witnessed by the PM.
One of the clauses in that MoU promised an AFL match for premiership points would be staged in Shanghai as soon as possible. This match is part of Mr Gui's 'Gift to Shanghai', his home town, so it's logical that part of his first year's instalment in the three-year deal (paid in advance), and second year no doubt, would go towards the Round 8 project ... as well as other aspects of the continuous game development programme being orchestrated, in Shanghai, via the Shanghai Tigers FC in conjunction with South China AFL in Guangdong and Hong Kong where PAFC have been developing AFL for three years.
To my knowledge AFL House has not to this point contributed any funding, but is providing essential services in support of the project. I say again: 'to this point'. I'm unaware what funding, if any, will come later.
Other partners, of whom Cathay Pacific is the most obvious, are providing services and funding. Discussions with other benefactors are ongoing in the Club's quest to at a minimum break even on an international event that - regardless of result, both on- and off-field - will write a new piece of sports history for Australia. DFAT are pretty keen on this. They call it Sports Diplomacy.
On the subject of Gold Coast wearing their red livery - and this is my personal comment only - this will hugely benefit the exposure of our great game across China via TV and social media. A casual Chinese surfer, attracted by the red and gold on his or her screen would be more inclined to dally a while, thereby boosting viewership and related data on our road to a potentially lucrative national CCTV contract sooner rather than later.
Hope this helps.
BTW, Mr Gui, soft-spoken little battler that he is, won his share of the pastoral leases to the Kidman cattle stations at his third attempt, not second.
I am not sure it answered my question. Definitely answered the rewards that will be reaped by GC....but not why Port themselves did not give up a home game. I would have accepted "because" though ;)

His job was to settle Buddy into Sydney life... ;)
A bit concerning Jeff Kennett's role in all this too.

Him and the girl (Amber Harrison) are having it out over Twitter. Very entertaining.

But whether she's right and Ch 7 have screwed her over, or she's a manipulative so and so taking everyone down with her, as Chairman of Beyond Blue he should be above tit for tats with a vulnerable person on social media.

Generally public personalities involved in such organisations are there for show only, see white ribbon.

Of course I could be making this up.

I always find it amusing how much Tealsters talk up the community work their club does. It is almost as if they feel that by purchasing a season ticket/membership to watch games at Adelaide Oval played by guys earning six figure salaries they are part of some benvolent society and better than anyone else.

I always get the feeling that those talking up their AFL clubs community work have never set foot in a real community based club or volunteered/been involved to help out such a club.

This is something I admire about our Club, they spend a lot of time on community work and much of it goes unreported. I'll never forget when VB and Craig lead the whole squad (and coaches) in the clean up after the Brisbane floods. They wanted no press there - in stark contrast to other clubs that had arranged to help clean up - and had press on hand to witness it.
