"We should be asking for a trade of either:
Lever for Oliver. Offer Oliver 3 x $650K/season"

I think collingwoods pick 36 is fair for watts. When you consider Watts is basically being asked to leave, only difference between him and Cloke is the fact that he's contracted. Watts would be pick50+pick 29,if he was out of contract.Sydney's pick is 29, Port's27. Collingwood's pick is 36. Demons are so keen to get rid of Watts diffence in 5 draft spots wont matter.

It was a starting point. That's all. On the scale of what guys like Talia (already AA), Smith (already AA), Laird (already AA), Sloane (already AA), Jacobs, the Crouch's etc are on, it's actually a very solid starting point. $750 is way overs. So yes, $400K seems like a very appropriate starting point. Then you negotiate from there. I'm sure you blokes get how contract negotiations work.
You've walked straight under that one.
Adelaide - not just half an hour behind.

Any guesses what random trade we do with GWS this year? We've done a deal every year with them so far.
I've seen a little bit of the Giants NEAFL side the last few years, I'd happily take Matthew Flynn (Ruckman who we bid on as an Academy player a few years back) or Isaac Cumming (184cm midfielder, also an Academy player taken with Pick 20 last year).

I don't really see how anyone but Adelaide can lose out from their current stance.

If they agree a trade they lose Lever, bummer and all, but get something back.

If they don't agree and he goes to PSD, either:

- another club take him, meeting his $ demands. So other club gets Lever, Melbourne don't get Lever but get to enjoy the picks that we had set aside for Lever, so not all bad. Adelaide gets zip.

- or other clubs steer clear because he has expressed desire to come to Melbourne and they haven't factored his $ into their plans (not totally unlikely) and Melbourne get Lever plus not losing the picks set aside for getting Lever (awesome for Lever / even better for Melbourne). Adelaide get ... what? Moral high ground? The thrill of looking like geese? I don't get it.

It's absolutely no different to the contradiction that you are offering him more than any other player on your list, yet in the same breath are saying he isn't worth 2 first round picks. ??
Is he being offered more than anyone on our list? And does that matter? Maybe no one on our list is worth 2 first round picks? 2 first round picks is Dangerfield/Ablett/Franklin/Martin territory. Lever isn't anywhere near that, as good as you guys (when it suits) say he is.

We're also not the ones whinging about how we are getting shafted. We've reportedly offered a first round and a second round. That's hardly low balling

EDIT. Never thought I'd see the day we have a Crows fan on this board arguing how good a bunch of Port players are. Things must be messed up.

Precisely. And who knows, had they had decided to value him as highly as other clubs do and paid him what he wanted, he'd have stayed, thus avoiding all this unfortunate business. But it kinda seems in their eyes like it is everyone else's fault.

Impey, Young, Trengove and AhChee have all been in their best 22 this year.

Impey was their 1st pick in the 2013 draft. He's bloody quick and a line breaker.

Young was Port's 2nd best goalkicker last year.

On AhChee and Lobbe I agree.
Trengove dropped when the whips were cracking this year.
Impey didn't crack 19 disposals in a single game this year and had over 5 tackles once with 16 goals from 20 games.
Young played 13 games for 11 goals.

Charlie Cameron has just told Adelaide that he wants to break his contract and be traded to Brisbane ... I wonder if the Lever hatred will die down now ... given that Jake is merely doing what he's entitled to do as an uncontracted player, while Cameron has got another 2 years left ... which is 1 year less than Gibbs when they were going after him last year.

I'm sure that will remain completely incomprehensible over there

Nah .. we like Charles, and he hasn't been a monumental bell end this year. Its actually been simmering in the background now since around the middle of the year. There was some indication it may have been resolved, most people were still 50/50 on it happening

As opposed to the complete shock revelations surrounding Lever.

Why is the majority of the Ade board content with losing Charlie because he largely under performs and is not consistent - but also think it's a given you'll get a 1st round pick back?

I said in earlier post the situation with Lever is a little more complex and not entirely all directly related to him. I would've loved Lever to stay, I've accepted he's going. I'd just hope the clubs can work it all out.

There is also the belief we have players who can fill CC's role. An end first round pick if thats the trade is good.

I wonder if the lions would b interested in Watts......could b a potential three way trade there

melb give up 10 and Watts get lever

brisbane give up pick 1 for Cameron Watts and pick 10

adelaide get pick 1 for cameron and lever

I'm pretty sure Brisbane won't like that, unless they can accumulate like 5 2nd round picks to secure their academy superstar
