If brander was there at 13 it probably means that most of the high grade mids have been picked

Indeed and that's what I was inferring .
Meaning I want a mid to slide not a tall.

There are some tactics that Rawlings and his team need to do to protect the integrity of the second round.

We need to may sure that Richmond take Naish at the latest with pick 25 and we need to make sure that GWS take Shipley at 27.

Why? Failure to act means that there are an additional 2 good prospects taken before our pick at 30 and 37.

Forcing the hand of GWS is easy. We bid on Shipley at 26 and and assume GWS match it with their bid at 27. GWS have historically let players go if they believe there are better options but I suspect they will not want their 1st local western Sydney product stolen, his value is around this mark and if we do get him, he is a possible major negotiation tool to get Coniglio in the future. Shipley is also touted to be a good prospect so his value is around this point in the draft. We do not need to be silly - we can use pick 26 to force their hand and strengthen our options at 32.

Richmond taking Naish earlier is also in our hands but the best we could do is make sure Naish is taken at 25. I would love someone to bid earlier to force Richmond to take him at 20 but it would rely on Sydney or Doggies bidding. Twomey has Naish ranked at 12 so there is a chance it happens thereby strengthening our pick 21.

Is this cloak and dagger stuff? Yes, but we have a lot at stake and need to play the cards that the system has dealt us.

An A+ for WCE as far as new recruits for 2018

New recruits for 2018 include:
Natanui
Lycett
Venebles
Waterman
Watson
Ah Chee
Rioli
Plus 5 new Draftees
And 2 new Rookies
Add an extra pre season for Partington,Duggan, Cole and Nelson
Not a bad start in my opinion

Totally agree,

I also feel that if Josh Rotham can get a good pre-season into himself, he could be handy player in the future. Obviously he needs to put on some weight, but he is a similar player to a Jake Lever-ish type.

When Lever was 18, he was 193 and 84. Rotham's latest measurements put him in at 192 and 78, fairly similar stats.

Also looking forward to seeing what Jake Waterman can do next year.

6kgs is a fair bit of size to make up

When Rawlings says "5 picks", he means "likely 5 picks".

Nice that they've got flexibility should someone we rate last til our sixth, but if they don't then there's someone to take the list spot.

We did something similar a couple of years back, think it was with Cavka?
Matt Allen I think it was that we used a pick on because he was still available, when we'd planned to pass.

Vishnu stop linking shit highlight videos of Clark, it's having the opposite of the desired effect.

His carnival highlights aren't all that great TBH, but his All Stars game is pretty good and if they ever cut his TAC games we'll see the best of him.

Yeah the video doesn't scream "pick me". Loads of turnovers and aimless kicks out of half back. He's got s bit of craft though. I desperately hope we pick constable. Could be our clearance machine and has the size to sit at half forward too!

Still better than Tunbridge's career highlights

So, are we delisting anybody this century? Or are all the boys being backed in for another year?

List lodgements are due 31 October. Then there's another one a month later after the draft.

So we should see some action by end of this week, otherwise end of November.

Just because people are a similar size doesn't mean they'll play the same way. (Otherwise I would have been Dunstall in my heyday;))

Lever, much like McGovern has an extraordinary ability to be able to intercept the ball.
Fantastic reader of the play and ball in flight.
This comes down to football smarts, not size.

I don't think Rotham has shown this ability to any great degree yet.

Agree on Waterman. He is starting to show some very exciting signs...Looks a real talent.

I’ve tried to work out if the need to delist players prior to the draft or if they can draft 6 players then delist players after the draft.

If so who we end up drafting could influence who goes.

List lodgements have to be done before the draft and you can only draft to fill already vacant list spots

If we only have 5 spots then we only have 5 selections. Can't draft another player then delist someone post draft to make room

That’s what I thought.

I get people wanting to get rid of Wellingham but I would have thought he would be better on a 1 year deal than whoever is pick 69.

Bonar won't last til 21 IMO.

Worth the risk at 13 IMO.

IMO.

Depends on who is still there.

I have GWS taking Higgins at 12 but I have a feeling they may take Clark if available. Why? Last years finals indicated that they lacked a bit of hardness, they have a lot of skillful players but were found short of contested grunt when the going got tough. They also just lost Wilson and Shaw isnt getting any younger. Clark reminds me in glimpses of Hodge, a tough half back / mid.

If Higgins slides we will jump at him for sure IMO.
