If Gws were starting this year had 1st 5 picks Brander would be in there. Possibly Oscar Allen as well. Surprising the first big man in the draft went at 13 .
Agreed.
Plans are afoot for next year already (re: Lynch and Hogan).

Ryan is the only one who will be capable of playing in our best 22. The other prospects will be spending time in East perth and won't get a game. This is not good for our depth, We needed a ready made midfielder to push in to best 22 calculations and provide some depth and competition in our weak midfield.
Well we already have two first round gun mids in Reddo and SheedPretty sure Tim Kelly and Higgins would have improved us immensely. With Shuey and Ah Chee..
Agreed, Masten is more like that diet cappuccino ice cream that used to give you the shits for 2 hours after you ate it.Vanilla is the finest of the flavours . Stop associating it with Masten
same thought passed through my cider-soaked brain...we didn't get the mature starter mid that was suggested, perhaps a rookie.Haiden Schloithe is still available isn't he? Could be a rookie for us (assuming no other team grabs him first).
Never thought partington was going to stay forward he's more your pure mid who can kick goals getting game time into him those last few games of the year will have been a blessing for him. He'll be thrown into it this year.Better option than the myriad of other players we've been playing there at AFL level (i.e. Mutimer, Partington).
I'd say people are probably displeased that we needed top quality midfielders and instead chose to take 2 talls with our first 2 picks. Brander in isolation is fine. Allen in isolation is fine. Together with Ryan with our first three picks they make for a disappointing draft imo.
Should have gone for best mids this year and traded the farm for Hogan next year. Pretty sure he will be heading home next yr.
Drafting players with the view to trading them (unless they're from the Gold Coast) doesn't seem like a very solid strategy to me.I reckon he looks like he could be just about as good as a Hogan. And worst case scenario, give it two or three years, if he develops as he should, he could be excellent trade bait. We could get a gun midfielder, I'd say a better one that we could have reliably gotten for pick 14
I’d bet my left nut we rookie him unless we are beaten to the punchHaiden Schloithe is still available isn't he? Could be a rookie for us (assuming no other team grabs him first).
If we have of got Fogerty at 21 and Allen at 26 then Ryan at 32 and Ainsworth at 37 that would have been great happy with Allen and Brander but we didnt address our midfield quality at all. Long term will tell the storey hopefully Ryan can translate his WAFL form to AFLVery happy with our picks. Yes it lacked midfielders with pace but you have to pick the best available first and we did that. Stoked especially we got Allen @ 21 and Ryan @ 26.
I can see sheed and redden who have been stuck on the hhf take priddis and mitchells place in the guts . Ahchee and venables take the vacant hhf roles rotating midfoeld . Ryan to the pocket if he shows enoungh . He has proven wafl form already .Ryan is the only one who will be capable of playing in our best 22. The other prospects will be spending time in East perth and won't get a game. This is not good for our depth, We needed a ready made midfielder to push in to best 22 calculations and provide some depth and competition in our weak midfield.
And who the **** asked you?You had two picks before us, if you desperately wanted him, he was there for the taking - in particular pick 21. Geelong were always picking him up with one of their 20's picks if you overlooked him at 21. West Coast knew that. You just rated Allen higher, and he looks the goods to me. I think you guys did well overall.
Do Geelong have a pick before us in the rookie draft?I’d bet my left but we rookie him unless we are beaten to the punch
If karps can get his fitness uo watch out . Drifting in and out of games is his biggest problem and its due to fitness .No shit. Getting to Masten's level of fitness is a bloody good start.
If Brayshaw didn't break his leg last year, where would he have gone last year?
