And this to me screams of 'we inquired and were told he'd already made up his mind elsewhere' ala Jaeger O'Meara/Dion Prestia last year.

I think Dustin is gone, and from the little I know of him he hates the relentless media spotlight in Melbourne and wants a flag. Do the maths, can't think of anywhere other than GWS, WCE or Adelaide that are close enough to success.

Personally, I'm not writing off Paddy or Hugh. Roo and Kosi were terrific for young talls. Paddy will get there, just needs time.

I'd been thinking about this myself recently actually, maybe just because I've always loved Ablett. If we could get him on the cheap Mitchell/Lewis style (GC probably ask for a little bit more than a nothing pick though) then why not? Still a top 5 player in the game, would be amazing addition if we're gonna start playing finals. He's obviously determined to move back home due to family issues, if Cats can't get it done then we should at least ask the question.

All hypothetical of course because there's virtually zero chance of it happening, but would love the GOAT in red white and black.

Still a superstar dynamic midfielder which is obviously something we need, or we could stick him in the forward line and watch him kick 60+ goals.

man I can handle winning the premiership with one free agent, but the idea of doing it with fyfe and gaz just doesn't seem right. One is enough. This mercenary stuff feels cheap. And I understand the want for a premiership may be stronger in some of you older campaigners, but I first got a membership in 2000, was there for the lost and drawn grannies, dealt with the crap at school growing up, etc

Same feeling as beating teams with their best players out
