Disagree about what? Maybe you do need to re-read what I wrote. I'm not disagreeing with you in anyway about Conca's best being very good. I'm merely pointing out that injuries keep getting in the way and have done year after year. It's not hard champ. I was not having a go at you at all.... just pointing out his shocking luck and year after year injuries.
well if you were "merely pointing out that injuries keep getting in the way and have done year after year" you would know that i had already acknowledged Conca's poor run of injuries with my initial comment: "reece conca will be a gun if injuries stay at arms length"

I think we disagree with his future in the team. I think he will be a gun and you believe "He is now depth, handy depth/fringe best 22."

"Maybe you do need to re-read what u wrote" LOL :p

first year we havent been linked to anyone, other than schache but thats died down heaps

obviously our team is very very good but cant help but think we can still improve, hope we arent sitting on our hands like the dogs did

Why would we give up a first rounder for no reason particularly when we don't need a first rounder for Naish?

If we had to we would be better off trading out a peripheral player(s) for later picks to use on Naish and use pick 15 and 17 on other players in the draft

As much as I rate your opinion Mr Magic (not at all)

I rate the draft guys like Cal Twomey more. He had Naish going at 10 in August and 12 in September.

Considering a lot of teams need for speed like Sydney & West Coast - that have picks 13 & 14, it's not that much of a stretch.

Worth having a look at Jack Watts? Cheap, won't really be giving up much to get him. Uses the ball well, beautiful kick. Just seems like he doesn't have much fight in him though. Could Dimma and the Richmond way turn that around?

Townsend restricted Lever from intercept marking whilst kicking two himself. Jack got off the leash and was lucky not to kick three or four from contested marks in the forward fifty. Lever might have picked up a few cheap possessions in the backline, but he failed to nullify Jack's impact as the third man up in contests.

He plays a role that 100 odd players could do successfully. He looks flash playing in an Adelaide team that beats up on shit sides, but he's really nothing special. He will find it difficult next season when more defensive forwards like Townsend sit on him all game and make sure he can't do his renowned spoils. Speaking of, where were those spoils Saturday? The only mega fists I saw were coming from the bloke in the yellow and black with the number 18 on his back.

The Lever and Rance comparisons make me sick. One will go down as the GOAT defender while the other is just a shit version of Grimes.

He had the third most intercept possessions on the ground behind Vlastuin and Rance, as well as send most spoils behind the Rance. I don't for one second believe he is the equal of Rance very few are but Lever is quality and only 21.

Towner did a good job on Lever and kept him accountable, exactly what we asked of him but his second goal was a cheapie when the game was over from a crap kick in. The Crows were under siege in their D50 from about halfway through the 2nd quarter till the end of the game, Lever and Laird were the only two crows defenders to stand up and keep their composure as the rest panicked and his possessions were not cheap we were battering them. The kid is 21 and will be a very very good player.

Twomey is an AFL journo first and draft journo second. I'd take the opinions of Bishop and even Knightmare over him as well as a few others on the draft board who get out to as many u/18 games as they can every weekend. The majority of guys in the drafts board rate Naish at 20ish, the highest is 15 (which is our pick so that won't happen).

Naish is very outside, his contested numbers are very very low, he is quick (3.01 20sec from memory) but not express. History also teaches us teams don't reach for f/s or academy players, there are only so many games a scout can get too and soo much money to spend on recruiting nobody is wasting it on kids you are highly unlikely to get.

What we need is another pick in the 30's to make up the points value so we don't go into debt next year. Also not sure how the new system works with regards to "hidden picks" and upgrading rookies, so not sure how that will affect how many live picks we will have?

Don't think we'll be active at all this trade period. Will be surprised if we trade in anyone. Surely we're squeezed for cap space after dustys deal? (Which was worth every cent mind you)
Agree.Saving what pennys we have for next year in regards to Tom Lynch and selling to him as a destination club and not based on $$$$,s alone would be my bet.(Along with 2 of his mates here already).
Think we,ll go into the draft this year and get Naish and also young Derrick Smith and upgrade a few of our rookies.

If we go for Jack Watts i will personally wait outside AFL house and stop Dan Richardson from entering the building to sign off on the deal.
The guy is lucky to still be in the AFL system.
Wow he is a good kick......it takes a bit more than that to make it in the AFL. Melbourne froth over him because the rest of their team is so shit.

The jealousy is real just coming onto your board and seeing how happy everyone is. Congratulations guys.

If you don't mind me asking, how was Conca's vfl form this year and what positions did he play? Apparently we're interested. Cheers lads

He had a very good start to the year in the AFL.
He is the sort of player that plays better at AFL than VFL IMO.
Very injury prone.
Id be happy for a straight swap for Balic

EF 100% A.

How can Lever and his manager say they've agreed to a deal with Melbourne without Adelaide's approval?
They've really thrown the toys out of the cot.

Tex's reaction doesn't surprise me. Seems like a pretty confrontational bloke.

Pretty stiff. His mums apparently not well so he wants to go home.

And no one wants to live in Adelaide except people from Adelaide. Sorry, couldn't resist :D

I'll give you an honest answer, he's overrated on these boards by people who think after 7 injury riddled years he is suddenly going to come good and play 22 games. His form has been up and down, he is worth very little on the trade table. If he asks for a trade, a 3rd or 4th rounder gets it done. We probably even delist him/let him go for free.
He will spend his remaining years on your list in and out of rehab and the WAFL.

Position wise he plays inside mid/ half back, as lock down rather than a line breaking attacking half back.
He is a strong body who tackles well, but his disposal is awful and he can be sloppy with giving away free kicks.

I think Lever's a dick, not even going to lie. But my god, has any team acted more like a child than Adelaide after Lever made his decision? It's freaking embarrassing. Melbourne offered them a more than suitable deal, honestly Melbourne's pick 10 should have been more than enough, but they're throwing in a future second rounder for what is supposed to be a great draft, take it and bloody run!

I am not sure what you are talking about but who would not trade out one of our periphery players so we can get/utilise a first rounder and not have to use it on Naish??? Its a no brainer non rocket science to me particularly when we have some non-youngsters who would play AFL if not for our strong list and are possibly looking for more opportunity like even younger Matt Kennedy who I heard that possibly from a close source far earlier in the year before his recent request to go to CFC!!!

We won't be doing much, if anything at all surely.

We'd hardly have any room in the cap to get anyone worthwhile.

Did Hawthorn sit on their hands and do nothing over the 3 peat years? Nope!

I expect us to be ruthless and to be busting our butts to become the powerful club onfield that we have become off-field.

We need to become better, they will all come for us.

So in response I’d be very surprised if we did nothing

Just out of interest, what gives you that impression about Lever? I didn't really know anything about him until everyone started talking about his contract.

100%, what they've been offered is fair. It's becoming a bit of a theme with them. They wanted Gibbs for nothing last year.
