Your big forwards are a bit like a QB in the NFL, conventional wisdom and history says you can't realistically expect to contend for the flag without at least 1 decent one. Every club knows this though so you generally have to overpay for them, it's a tricky situation for us this year probable top 3-7 pick and no 2nd rounder. If you wait till next year and there is still not one around at our pick then what ? It's been hurting us for years already and you generally don't get the best of those guys for 3-4 years after you draft them.

Allens Dad is tall but his Mum is short so who knows. His older brother Angus is only 178cm.

I'm pretty sure that Logue measured 190.6 or something like that at the combine?

I think the big issue for us is this will be too late. Our premiership window is really 2019 to 2022, so I think we may need to go a mid with our early pick and hope we can target a KPF\Ruck another way.

In 2024 and beyond we can start the rebuild again.

Our window is hard to estimate at this point. We could get lucky and shoot up quicker or it could take longer. Ideally the KPF would be awesome by the time we challenge but if he at least commands the best defender and allows the 2nd and 3rd tall to be more effective, that will do. Just because the window opens in say 2020, doesn't mean it is 100% closed in 2023 either. If the list build is good and not full of holes like our last one, it might linger a bit this time. Giving the 2019+ draftees time to mature before we fall in a heap again.

Also if we get a KPF that is not ready in 3 to 4 years, at least he will be in his prime 4-5 years after that for another go.

Oscar was on 360 last night saying he is 192cm but reckons he has some growth left in him. I will try and watch the WA game today to get another look. If he could eek out 2cm more then his size would be fine.

Don't think Logue is 189 though. He looks taller although that may be a combination of his hair and jump?

I say we just keep picking best available regardless and hope a KPF falls our way with that.
Apparently killing it today

Yeah, I've seen about 4 U18s this year and I am happy to go on record that he is the most talented of the lot. Special mention to Rayner.

Want to see Lukosius and Sutherland this afternoon.
Is fazioli as small forward any good ? Peel product

We have to tank next year. Need top 2 pick. Ian Hill is special.
That or we could do what the saints did this year and trade our 2017 1st to someone like Brisbane for their 2018 1st. We then load up with two 1st's next year. Puts us back a bit but may be worth it in the long run. Especially if the top talent is from WA.

Yeah I am watching and paying special attention to him. Playing well. 192cm is about right I think. Has good hands especially if the kick is to his advantage. Agile enough with good second efforts as well but certainly not you would consider quick. Reasonable set shot - 2/3 to half time.
Will be interested in his combine results later this year.

I reckon if he was a smidge taller and/or quicker he would go top 15, but I'd guess he is a 20-40 prospect.

Well he seems to be in all the right crumming positions as he has kicked 3 to half time. Some good signs for sure. Seem him lead up at the ball a bit to.

It's really risky if they improve though, especially given how even the comp is. They fluke a couple of wins to go from say 5-8 wins and rise 5 spots on the ladder. If we got a deal like the saints did last year that's fine though. They are ahead as long as Hawks finish bottom 12 which looks pretty likely.

Finished watching the game. Disclaimer is I am in no position to make informed judgement on footy players. These are definitely just opinions for those who couldn't watch. Will focus on the WA ones that you can't read as much about on the draft boards (not LDU, Dow etc)

Ian Hill - is a jet. Quick, vision, skills (and not just foot and hand, does soccers, bounces, taps etc to his or team advantage). Closest comparison from the little of him I have seen is a smaller Harley Bennell or maybe a fast, right footed Sonny. Probably a bit small for midfield (for now) but gee you'd like him in your front half. Inside 50 kicks were great.
Patmore - Apparently has no tank but got a squillion possessions off half back. Is rapid too, chased down a couple of players. JJ like maybe but arguably better kick but probably not as good defensively. Would be happy if we picked him up.
Allen - as per previous post. Didn't kick another goal after half time but did some nice things. Is a pretty good tackler.
Naughton - good interceptor and likes to rebound. Is a bit lumbering and his kicks are a touch loopy but they hit the target.
Tucker - can take an intercept mark.
Starcevich - powerful, seems to get it a bit and makes good decisions.
Fazioli - Ended up kicking 4 but I think you would have to watch more games to make sure it wasn't a fluke. If he keeps getting into the right spots would expect him to get drafted next year.
WA midfielders are less celebrated than the Vic ones but held up well. England and...forget

There were others but I can't remember them in the 10 minutes since the game finished. If you ask me about a particular player that might jog my memory.

Want is one thing , able to get is another thing .Don't mind SA talent at all next year .

I'm not saying Apeness or Strnadica are going to be players. In fact I had Apeness as a rookie pick in his draft year, no way he was a first round talent. And Strnadica going undrafted. More so just pointing out that if we took another tall early, it would be the end for them.
Apeness was the back up plan After failing to get McCarthy. Hell I thought Mason Shaw was going to be our 1st round pick in 2012 after we were desperate to get someone to Partner Pav.

As for Luke Strnadica, I said this many times before, I met his parents and they would of been happy if he drafted to freo. I even Predicted he was going to be drafted by us as a 3rd rounder, yet freo got him as a Rookie Pick. It would of been stupid not to Draft him on the rookie list as we are desperate to have another tall forward/ruck. It was bad enough we Didn't get either McGovern Brothers when we had the chance too.
