You, sir, are a comic genius!

Of football related stuff
I don't know why people like to mix around Football with other stuff . As long people not doing any harm to other people just because of disagreement I don't see any problem with it . i can disagree in a forum with anybody without getting aggressive.

If Blues asked us for 3, 24 and 29 and a promise of not to take Rankine for #1 and some real late picks they have who says no?

Basically Walsh v Rankine, 24 and 29

Nope. All 9 are forwards, with some listed as midfield forward. They are all young too, 21 to 23 next season. But sure, why not add a 10th small forward with their only selection inside the first 3 and a half rounds?

Because Rankine would be the best small forward on there list and can pinch hit through the middle already? None of those players are going to win games off there own boot but Rankine could. Most talented player in this draft

Pick 3 ( Lynch combo)
Pick 24 ( Brisbane multiple pick swap included Ablett pick )
Pick 29 ( from Essendon through Saad trade) .
Pick 1 -because you are the worse team in the competition.

In a team like GC , I rather take the risk of picking Rankine , 24,29 than Walsh alone .
No guarantee but 24,29 just give you more chance of picking Stevie J Sam Mitchell type than 60+ pick .

But do you agree that any deal for the Suns pick #6 needs to be better than the rival bids?

If Port offer #10 and #15 and GWS offer #9 and #19, don't the Crows need to offer #8 and #16 to beat them? We'll chuck in #29 to make it worthwhile.

What if the bidding gets fierce and GWS puts up #9, #11 and #19 for #6, #24 and #29? Can the Crows match that with #8, #13 and #21?

Nobody in the media seems to understand that the Suns are holding pick #6 and a baseball bat. You will cop a whack if you really want that pick, but someone is going to pay it because there's going to be a ripping good player available and the Suns want more first round picks.
To be honest, I'd probably be fine with 8 and 16 for 6 and 29.

Everything beyond that is a no.

Does that depend on who is available at #6?

Road to the Draft just did a podcast mock and came up with Rozee falling to #6, but the Crows totally lowballed in their mock offer and the Suns declined. Lystics did a podcast mock where Blakey got an early bid and the Suns offered #7 to Port for #11 and #16, but they declined, so they next went to Adelaide for #9 and #17 offering #25 too which the Crows took. #17 ended up becoming #20 because of early bidding, yet pick #29 doesn't drift so far because clubs matching bids sometimes came earlier and that meant the pick went up and down when Sydney and the Bulldogs came into the 1st round to match with their mid 20 picks.

Personally, I think the Suns paid a lot for picks #6 and #24, so #29 makes more sense, but there may only be 3 places between the picks in the end and that gives the Suns the gun hand. Besides, the earlier the Suns can place a bid on Bailey Scott the sooner the Kangaroos can be tossed out of the Draft.

You might be right, but Carlton have sunk an awful lot into the 9 small forwards they have and I don't think everybody would agree that they are rubbish.

Darcy Lang is a former 1st round pick (16) with 55 games experience 2013
Jarrod Garlett is a former 1st round pick (16) with 28 games experience 2014
Jarrod Pickett is a former 1st round pick (4) with 17 games experience 2014
David Cunningham is a former 1st round pick (21) with 16 games experience 2015
Sam Petrevski is a former 1st round pick (6) with 42 games experience 2016
Paddy Dow is a former 1st round pick with (3) 20 games experience 2017

4 years in a row Carlton has picked a small forward in the first round, also spent 4 later picks and retained a rookie at this position.

Then again, it's Carlton so you can be forgiven for wondering if they'll throw away the number #1 pick on a 10th small forward.

Scrimshaw and his old man..
Sounding like the... that they are.
Saying no one wanted him because of his injuries.. but hawks came running..

Pretty sure your old man went running to the hawks asoon as GC called your name draft night.

Jack even said his old man stole the spotlight at a dinner with clarko..

Sounds like the bloke has tickets on himself.

Goodluck with clarko you 2.
He hates lazy w***ers.

The scrimshaw name deffinetly wont go down with folklore with the HAwthorn footy club.

That i am sure of

It’s little wonder the club just wanted him out with nothing in return.

The same for his son Jack....

I am not against getting KK back into the backline .

Koschitzke
Koenan .
I really like Kossie 2.0 and he's predicted to drop around the mid 2nd round, he's played a bit of rep footy with Dirk Koenen and Caleb Graham for Allies.

However, we could end up with 15 players over 6 foot 5. When we had games this year with only 4 or 5 fit talls to select from you knew we'd need to get a few at the Draft, but I think we pass on Kossie 2.0 unless he really is the best player available.

Anyway, I just trade picks #6 and #29 to Kristof for #8 and #16, so we're getting Hately, McLennan and O'Halloran. Bye bye, Felicia!

Nooooooo, actually I am happy with the deal . Felicia . :D

Thurls wrote a post that was absolutely scathing about Gromma. We all know to take notice of what Thurls shares with us.

Gromma is just an enabler parent. Enabler parents are very dangerous but in Gromma’s case he did parent a son onto an AFL list so it’s hard to be too critical of him.

He’s invited me to a beer with him next time I’m in Melbourne. Although I think his invitation had some menacing undertones so I’m not so sure I’ll take him up.

Has that ever happened on our board before?
nope, first time ever that we've cracked 10k posts in a thread! next best was the 2016 trade/draft thread at 8700, then 2017 trade/draft thread at 6900. vent/off topic thread is the highest non-trade/draft thread at 5400.

the 2018 trade/draft thread is also the forum's most viewed thread ever at 325k as well!

The thing is that until it emerged that the club had basically given up on the kid, most fans were hopeful that he could turn things around and live up to his potential. Maysie described the kid as probably the most naturally talented of the 2016 batch, but also the one with the most to do to pull things together. Anyone who saw him in the NEAFL could see that the potential was undeniably there, but 2nd half fadeouts in a list with an awful reputation for 4th quarter fadeouts was never going to get him promoted to Senior footy in 2018. Injuries had a major part in it too, but that shows the hypocrisy of the kid. Box Hill Hawks won't mind having him in their backline, but if he thinks Clarkson just hands out Senior games then he's in for a short career. Carlton might end up with him after all.

So, it's basically Mr Bods and Peel67skin who have made the difference?

This is what I believe to be the current state of the Suns List
8 places remain after 1 RFA, 4 trades out, 1 retirement, 10 delistings, 5 trades in, 3 concession picks, 4 re-rookie promises, Darcy's promotion and 2 extra places.

Dow, Petrevski-Seton and Cuningham are all midfielders.

They're only being played up forward because they don't have the endurance and strength to compete against seasoned bodies.

It should also be noted that Lang, Garlett and Pickett were all traded into Carlton for 4th round picks. They were all taken in the first round but only by their former clubs.

On a side note, what's all this noise about Rankine being pick 1?

Is there a general belief from the GC camp/internal sources that Walsh will be available at pick 2?
