Really sad for Collingwood but if teams try to emulate WCE’s style next year and the game shifts back towards contested marking rather than Richmond’s scrappy pressure game we will be in good stead.

Hawkins and Ratugolea up forward, Stanley and Dangerfield chipping in around the ground and Taylor (?), Henderson, Blicavs down back is as close to WCE’s structure as most other teams have.

We can’t beat pressure teams at their own game but we can play to our strengths.

Both AA rucks sucked b@lls Gawn last week grundy today.
I think it was Foxtel pre-match who discussed the importance of WCE two rucks and the job they did on Gawn last week - they showed footage where Lycett was kinda sacrificing his own game to instead make Gawn accountable; when Gawn would drop a kick behind the ball he would go with him & they said Vardy did the same thing and they just wouldn't let Gawn do his own thing.

It was said they'd need to do the same today and that the biggest thing Vardy & Lycett could do was to limit the impact of Grundy - I only watched the last 12 minutes of the match but seems that Grundy didn't have the impact he had during the season

We haven't go their number of talls but it was obvious that was the difference.

Who knows how vards ans varcoe would of turned out if they both stayed a cat .
Different coaches different, mind set l failed at one club need to work harder etc.
For what ever reason they improved at thier new homes and played pretty well today.

Collingwood can not win a GF in September.

Brad Sheppard the other injured Eagle who would be shattered; would have been out there today if not for a hamstring injury in their QF win over the Pies

Both teams had significant outs. All teams do, none bigger than NN though.

I thought melb needed to change tact and use gawn at forward stoppages last week.
He would be hard to deal with tapping to a player bursting into a open goal.
