Apparently it's the "us" part. Which is strange, because it's in some of their favourite catch phrases ...

"Don't the AFL owe us some prop-up money?"
"Stop tearing us apart!"
"I thought Asia was all about us?"
"How could Shuey do that to us?"

I'm sure I've missed some more obvious examples ... any help?

"They've run out of tarps at Bunnings, we'll have to order some from the US"

That actually is not a good sign. We've all seen those quotes before ... and maybe it's the $$$ that aren't able to be offered by the Power that is causing the discomfort?

yep we have all heard that script before, it doesn't always end up with the player leaving however no doubt that at his point he is a flight risk

I'd hate to see him at a club that developes players.
At Port he'll always just be a battering ram.

If he goes Port will get two first rounders, with at least 1 top ten. That gives them a decent shot at the classy SA lads coming through. With Rockliff and SPP we have Ollie type players in the wings. The signing of Rockliff may be a clue as to the club and Ollie's intentions.

I want him to stay, but it's not the end of the world if he leaves as he will be very highly prized.

This is a reasonable point. Wines has gotten to that point where his reputation is exceeding his actual output. Given he doesn't strike you as a bloke who has a huge amount of natural improvement left in him this might be the best possible moment to sell high.

Player movement is going to only increase ... that's how they have designed it. EVERY club will go through this.

Same as Crows supporters have been conditioned to accept stars leaving, Power supporters will go through the emotional roller-coaster eventually.

Wines is a very good inside mid, but no club can stop good players from leaving - it's about what you do with the currency you get.

Adelaide did a good job this trade period to get really good value for a young-gun and a young-maybe-gun. Whether Ollie leaves or not, Power just need to do the best they can with the situation ... if that means trading into Rankine or Lukosius then you'd have to be pretty happy. I'm sure it's the one upside that Adelaide have in the back of their minds if Sloane decides to move back to Victoria.

You made out like bandits for Cameron and Lever!

Imagine if they lost their 1st round pick & finished bottom.

Btw, won't happen to a Victorian team as Essendon didn't even lose a pick for a systematic doping program.
Essendon lost three picks. Two firsts and two seconds, though they were handed back a late first rounder for unknown reasons in the second year.

Cmon Vader, stop it. We did not overpay for Gibbs ... completely ridiculous statement and you know it.

This is not the place to start that discussion again:

I was extremely critical of the price we paid for Gibbs back then, and nothing has changed. We overpaid massively. However, it's balanced out by the deals we did for Cameron & Lever, "making out like bandits" in both cases. We probably came out about even overall.

It still irks me that Essendon basically got a free #1 pick for drug cheating in exchange for writing off a season they were never going to succeed in anyway.

Edit: And free fast tracked development of their younger guys that probably wouldn't have played AFL otherwise.

Ollie is just positioning himself for more coin. He won't leave.

Totally agree. He wont move but he is seeing players come in on big coin, probably more than he is offered. He needs to be on more than Motlop, Rockliff etc.
I think he would be asking 800k plus for a long deal.
Question to be asked is how they keep in the salary cap. The lower down players must be on peanuts.

We will see down the track. It depends if Fogarty becomes the gun some expect him to be. If that happens, then the trades are in our favour. I thought Gibbs worth a 1st and a 2nd rather than 2 1sts

You don't think our recruiting team knew that? Why do you think they purposely held off on the Cameron deal until the Gibbs deal was done? They knew exactly what they were doing, and got the end result that they wanted.
