The only variable there is wingard.

Port would be taking the risk of a two pick upgrade without knowing who will be available at 4.

On trade night it's a different scenario.

If their player is available @ 4 then 6 & 10 could come into play.

Unless they were confident of trading wingard then upgrading 4 & 10 for a top four pick or better.

I agree, but what if the Crows get their hands on pick 5 and both Adelaide clubs are desperate for the same player or for the first choice of the pool of elite SA lads.

It becomes a race to the moon. It seems both SA clubs are desperate to get their first pick before the other.

No it's not.

It's every man for himself in this game.

You ask for best and compromise if you have to.

They will do exactly the same.

But in the end you do whats best for the club. Ask Melbourne with Lever or even us with Carlisle. Or Richmond with Prestia. If you really like the idea of 6 and 11 you don't hold it for pick 39. If you don't like the idea just don't do it.

Nah Stewart was as good as they come a class above then out of nowhere he needed to shop at the big men’s store and couldn’t get a kick.

Chads a good player who can be great on his day, I think he’s gone backwards since opposition sides started putting more work into him.

He definitely seems to have the hump with port at present though.

The tuddy thing at Collingwood was all about cash, they didn’t like playing their players much in those days I think it was him and len Thompson took a stand.

Not quite. It was also about principle. Tuddy and Len Thompson did make a stand on behalf of the other players after Collingwood paid a lot to recruit a blond full back from WA called Peter Eakins (number 10).

Eakins was paid much more than all the local lads but was popular with his teammates. As a matter of fact Eakins was a journo and was the first reporter on the scene when the West Gate Bridge collapsed in 1970.

Tuddy was stripped of the Captaincy and wanted to leave after 1970. His beef was with the club and the Committee. A swap with Ian Stewart was a real possibility at one stage.

Ironically Tuddy captained Victoria on the MCG in 1971 while not Captain of his own club.

Can we talk about stuff that happened in colour please...

Des Tuddenham was also disenchanted and wanted to leave Collingwood after 1970. At one stage a Stewart-Tuddenham swap was considered. Not sure why it didn’t eventuate but the Tigers were unscrupulous at that time.

Tuddy would have been handy in the 1971 Grand Final.

Sorry, back to trade news..........
He would have run through Keddie before half time
