It's not a steal. Hickey is not very good, and by mid next year will be playing in the WAFL. He'll be third in line behind Nic Nat and Vardy.

I'm glad the club had a crack. Lethlean has signaled our ambition, and that's great. But I'm not that disappointed that Shiel has gone elsewhere.

I too am not upset that Shiel didn't come to us.....and yr right....if he did,there's no hiding for him in a side like ours.

I personally thought our offer was way too much....Shiel is good/very good....but not worth that amount of coin IMO.

Nah as other posters said, He's being traded to play WAFL and 39 sounds pretty decent in that context. He's definitely third ruck at the Eagles but is a good trade-in for them - he's very much AFL standard on his good days and Nic Nat has missed 1/3 of the last two seasons so they need cover.
