How would we know if the newspaper articles weren't sources from BF even if they existed?
Despite the claims, most newspaper editors will try to verify rumours rather than just print them off BF. I won't give the same credit to some of the internet-based "news sites" (and definitely not Trade Radio).

Yeah and in general, Footy media is very well connected and they break 90% of stories before they happen, most people will fact check and of coarse journos will use social media as a source. Trade radio is amazing, ill be all over it next week.

During the draft process SPS said he preferred a Melbourne club.

Aye, but it's not out of the question that he would change his mind, especially from what an 18yo from a small town in the Kimberley might publicly state.

Highly doubt there's anything in it (like everything I hear this time of year).

Carlton would be bordering on impossible to deal with for SPS at the trade table. He's probably worth a second round but they'd want much more.

Time to screw over Carlton. Based on just his form, he is not worth more than a late 2nd rounder. Pick 33?

I remember SPS saying in the lead-up to the draft that he wanted to go to a Melbourne club though, so would be a bit of an odd one.
As you’d appreciate, things change though and maybe Melbourne hasn’t suited him after all and now that he’s scratched that itch of being in Melbourne, priorities may have changed.

Edit - what The Flying Belgian said.

A couple of years on the Carlton list would be enough.

Big Footy isn't reflective of the clubs management or probably not even the vast majority of supporters.

I understand that.

I don't want us to ever interact with Carlton at the trade table

McClure saying Tim Kelly has requested a trade to West Club Coast.

Wowee.

Can’t have strong non-Vic clubs getting even better at the expense of Vic clubs. Trade ban incoming.

Geelong tears will be delicious. About time that club spent some time at the bottom of the ladder.

Article on the AFL website about how the Saints first round pick won't be on the table for Shiel if he nominates them. I love the position some clubs take during trade period. So you think he's worth silly money (which is the only reason he'd pick the saints over the other suitors), but then argue he's not worth your first round draft pick this year. Good luck trying to come up with a trade solution that satisfies GWS without using this years or next years first.

I'm not a fan of paying silly overs for a player, but glad we're not against offering fair compensation to clubs.

And good luck convincing player managers that you will get deals done once a player nominates you. I get Carlton saying pick 1 is not on the table, but pick 4 is very reasonable for Shiel.

AFL.com.au reporting this morning that Saints and Blues much keener to trade next years pick for Shiel instead of this years.

Walsh is a special kid. I’d be the same if I was Carlton.

Saints need to get real though. It’s rare that one of these go-home Victorian stars from an interstate club doesn’t nominate one of the ladder leaders. Shiel is willing to go to a minnow. They need to make this happen.

Strangely enough, it's always the lower rung clubs like Carlton, St Kilda who try to screw over other clubs.
