With 7 spots on the list, we can upgrade Smith and Kielty bringing that in to 5, but that still puts us at our last pick being 91 (although it’s more likely to land in the 70’s) ... still a bit of work to be done i’d say.

Was right up there for me once a woman accused him of standing in a room while she was being r*ped after the 2010 grand final.

Not saying he was guilty of rape but there was a fair stench around that case. The book written about it is called Night Games: Sex Power and Sport.

Anyway, another time and place etc.

I don't like this at all, I know I joked about Hogan in the other thread but only cause it was our board and I assumed it was a piss take.

I was at a Mexican resort a couple years ago having a great time, inclusive beers etc so just going nuts. Middle of the afternoon me an a mate meet a group of girls and start having drinks with them, I go an grab 6 tequilas for us an the girls and drop them on the table. I wander off to go an talk to some other birds and I'm gone for a couple hours.
Anyway I come back and me mates sitting with one of the girls and the rest are gone. I go for a nap.

Go out later that night and see them out but none of them will talk to me, I talk to me mate and it turns out one of them got so drunk she needed to pass out, but instead of taking responsibility she told her friends I drugged her.

Me mate told me to leave it but if i did who knows who else she would have told. Security? Group of drugged up guys? Police?

Had to go down and sit with her and make her apologise and stop telling people and 'convince' her I didn't do it.

Anyway point being it's bloody dangerous to accuse people of things without any evidence and continue too when they haven't been found guilty. Just because beams looks like a lad doesn't mean he stands around watching people get r*ped.

I suspect Melbourne will use it's two second rounders and at least it's 3r and 4th. But yeah that's still only half. I still trust the list managers though

Default setting for someone who gets drunk, does something stupid and regrets it in the morning. Like Beams or not, I'm having difficulty picturing someone standing in the corner of the room watching some randoms have sex after a Grand Final.

We've solidified the backline and the back up ruck spots, but the likes of JKH and Maynard are now closer to the side, and Lewis and Jones are a year older. We're going to find it hard to cover injuries / poor form in the middle next season.
Very likely. We did pretty well with our late picks last year though (Spargo at 29, Fritsch at 31 and then that guy who had the horror debut) so hopefully we can pull it off again.

With only 4 ‘useable’ picks in the draft, I still think Cory Gregson would be a decent speculative selection as a DFA assuming we can get his feet right. Risk vs Reward probably outweighs pick 90 odd.
Yeah I agree ... I think I mentioned him a few weeks back. Just the type we need, and no more a risk than the last bloke picked.

We've got 8 list spots to fill now, I'm a little surprised we didn't sniff around the likes of Hall, Setterfield, even Hannebery or Scully. Would have thought we'd be looking for some depth and experience to complement the side. We've given away a fringe midfielder for next to nothing, traded away another fringe midfielder for a backup ruckman and packed Hogan away for a meh deal and got May and Kolodashnij back in return. Despite the holes we need to fill, we then traded 46 and 36 for 28, or something along those lines. Going to be some solid bin-dipping going on in the next few weeks.

That's assuming there is no improvement from Stretch/Baker/KK/Hunt/Wagner etc.

May and 23 balances out the loss of Hogan, and KK is a gamble although at a low cost with potential high reward if we can get his injuries and form right. But we've lost our "once in a generation" young forward and our depth looks shot. We better pray for no injuries next season, or pull some rabbits out of a hat at draft time. Taylor has definitely hit more than missed, but it's very important we top up our list with players like Spargo and Fritsch who can have an impact straight away that gives us some depth back. I'd like to see a couple of quick pressure type players targeted, another mid, and a young developing tall forward.

Hogan isn't once in a generation

Cameron
Daniher
Lynch
Hogan
Curnow
Hipwood
Brown
Riewoldt
Hawkins
Etc etc

Tom McDonald's played 30 odd games as a key forward and is better at it than Hogan, shitty hysteria needs to stop.

No. Not default. It happens sometimes. 'False' accusations are at around 2%. What Topkent went through was shit and unfair, but that doesn't make it right to start disparaging the experience of countless women who have actually been drugged or spiked. Really encourage you to educate yourself about the stats here, and the harm that throwing around/holding reasonably broad views like this can have on people who actually have been assaulted coming forward. Not having a crack, just would really encourage you to do so.

You can't improve on perfection. I'd say it's more like we're gambling on big improvement from some of those names.

Those false accusation figures are a load of tosh. Only "2%" are false (when the actual quoted underestimate is "2 to 10%", so you're not even being straight there... and 400% margin of error, very robust method!), yet about 90% of the high profile cases turn out to be a load of shite. What an anomaly! I'd suggest you not just swallow up the fluff you read online. Women are not wonderful, they're just as capable of nasty shit as men.

Why would you ever draft a key forward? You pay through the nose to get them in the draft only to have them piss off right before they hit their prime for half the price. Most key forwards take 5 years at least to get to Jesse Hogan's current level. Hogan was an exception. The most exciting player we'd had in 20 years. We paid through the nose for him, he lived up to the hype and even he goes for massive unders.

Imagine if Weideman wanted a trade this year. We would be lucky to get a second rounder after drafting him at pick 8.

I love May but he's 5 years older than Jesse and plays an easier position.
We were all excited at first - bloody oath.

But there has been nothing particularly exciting Jesse for 3 years.

Yes he’s a loss, we put significant resources into him and I’d have liked to keep. But he evidently hadn’t bought into the club, he wanted out at some level whether mildly or violently, he wanted out.

We used his leaving to get in two players who excel in areas we’re deficient, albeit one with some injury issues, and we improved our draft position.

I think there’s a lot of demons fans who’d become very emotionally invested in Jesse, which is fine - good in fact, but it’s clouding a lot of people’s judgement about where things now sit.

We made it to a prelim last year; we’ve improved our best 22 objectively; we’ve improved our 2018 draft position.

On balance this is no worse than a nuetral result overall, I think it’s a good result.

For the record, I am disappointed that we’ve lost Jesse.
