Instead of taking on step forward, Sheed has gone and taken 2 steps backwards. Very disappointing as he did show a bit promise in the last half of last year.

Yeah I don't know what's wrong with him, looked poised to breakout.

Think he does have the talent and skill set to be a pretty good player but i think his work ethic isn't there and he's at moment in his career where it's being exposed.

Not fit enough for an inside/outside mid and not big/strong enough to have a presence at stoppages. I've said it it a few times but he needs to to look at how Yeo changed it around last year. Yeo had similar issues with his tank few seasons ago and then suddenly in the space one preseason just significantly improved it and also got a lot stronger at the same time. The rest is history.

Kerr was like 180cm. He is the perfect example of size can be overrated.

Built like a brick outhouse and tackled like a mofo, though.

They are rare, however. In the end we just have to adapt with what we've got. Lamenting the loss of Naitanui, Kennedy etc for extended periods and not having a Daniel Kerr is great and all but you move on quickly, you have to.

TBH Kerr in our premiership day wasn't that huge but he played cracked in hard as if he was built like Leigh Matthews.

Came across an Article on who Hawks could target this season and Partington is one of them. Its funny cause Parto is the type of player Clarko could genuinely turn into a decent player.

I said it pre season and i’ll say it again, our midfield depth is actually in a good spot.

We definitely need to do all we can to keep gaff, he is irreplaceable imo.

If we do we have 3 A graders (yeo, gaff, shuey). Dont think there are many other teams in the comp with more. Add redden, hutch and sheed to that as solid b-graders (yes sheed has been woeful this year but not completely off him yet, feel like he has just lost continuity ever since that foot injury rnd 7).

The beauty is that core still has 3-4 years left in it at least.

The next wave is important and we do need to nail a couple of mids this draft. But promising signs already from ainsworth, brayshaw and venables (who with another 1-2 pre seasons will spend more time on ball)

I just think brander and oallen were way too good to pass up this draft, at their picks they were the best KPPs by a mile. I wouldnt be shocked if between picks 13-32 ainsworth ends up being at a similar level to the best mid in that range. Unfortunately the top 12 went mainly mids and it forced our hand a lot with our picks

I will become a full-time alcoholic if the Hawks ever find success by poaching one of our underdeveloped players.
Can see Mitch leaving and taking Parto back to the Hawks.

Parto has some traits that could make him an AFL level mid and Clarko would be the type of coach that could get him playing team first footy.

Few weeks back i was watching EP on TV and Parto was backing his leg speed and looked like a different player.

Like Henderson. Yeah you’re probably right. Will be interesting to see how he goes and will melt vigorously if he becomes successful given how we failed to get any value out of him

Just being realistic dude. Sorry if it warranted being told to 'shut the **** up'. Isn't this the drafting thread?

Fair enough about Nick Riewoldt but let's not get silly by throwing Pav and Dish in there.

Sorry mate wasn’t a go at you just me with my head in the sand about Jk’s injury

All this talk of Daniel Kerr is making me nostalgic. Straight favorite Eagle of all time. Off-field indiscretions aside - no one else played with as much heart as Kerr.

Favourite along with Beau Waters. They would bleed blue and gold.

1st of August tomorrow, and no Gaff signature - I think we can count on him as gone. Shame! These bloody sooky Melbourne boys - keep to recruiting S.A. and country vics if our own W.A. boys aren't in the same paddock. 1st Judd and then Gaff. Ditch the cursed no 3. Give it to a west aussie next time.

Haha it’s only two players over 11 years (if it does come down to that). Luckily for us we have it both ways in the form of Yeo otherwise our midfield would be extra screwed.

A world where we stick to SA kids instead of Vic Metro, and refuse to accept the go home factor:

2008 - Swift taken with pick 18 and Ballantine taken with pick 20.

2010 - Polec taken at pick 4

2013 - Polec requests a trade to Port
We receive picks 22 (Darcy Gardiner) 34 (Nick Robertson) in return
Yeo stays at Brisbane
We take Lewis Taylor with pick 28

Our midfield consists of Redden, Sheed, Taylor and Partington
