We could promise to Scott that we’re going to extend him on good coin but it wouldn’t be smart nor help with our current cap situation.

Oh. And it looks like we could also promise to gift him games and rig the B&F so he gets bonuses.

I guess the option is a LDU like extension which puts the inducements in year 3+, which wasn't what I was hoping we could do (use some of the surplus cash on him). Oh well. I guess we will have to just bring other contracts forward.

I bet plan B is an injured/injury prone player.

Can't seem to land the big A grader but we do have success in selling our rehab abilities. Higgins, Waite, Ahern being our recent success stories.

I just hope it's not Scully. I personally have never thought much of him and there is talk he is available.

Was thinking that depending how trade period goes LMac might be a bit relieved to see one less winger coming in. With Hall, Polec and Gaff in the club I couldn't see how he got a game.

It’s strongly rumoured that the person who convinced Gaff to stay an Eagle was his actually his own dad.

You guys made a good pitch and have a good team. Your the only team to beat us badly this year so your club has some good players going forward. Also if players stay at their club like gaff did them there’s hope for your young players when they come out of contract also.

It is obvious Gaff's heart was with the eagles and tbh, NDS had the same issue and I think it is why he was a bit lacklustre, he got a fair bit of the ball but it took him a long time to actually put his body on the line and do the kind of things people who are invested in the club and the team do instinctively. It would have been a worse look for our club if we had a multi-million dollar donkey we wouldn't be able to get rid of who was half-hearted.

I think Gaff heard what he wanted to hear from his old man, the clutch is going to come if his health takes a turn for the worse, I don't think he would ever forgive himself if his health deteriorated and he wasn't around there for him when he could have been.

Yeah clubs give players the time they need these days though ....Rioli left hawks to retire because of family at 28. At the peak of his game basically.

I think gaff at 1.3 mil would do what buddy has done to swans .....stretched the cap and they can’t afford to retain players

Is the issue now having the trade currency? Polec and Hall still need to be negotiated. Free agency being the free hit it is was the major factor with Mr Gaff! I like the sound of Finlayson. Surely we couldn’t have any chips left on the table if we secured 3 by trade.

I concur with this. Concerned if this will have ramifications given the interview Polec did last week about ‘playing with G*ff in 2019’. No tick until the club issue a statement saying it’s all over red rover.

Hey its all about the ride.

I'm happy getting Polec....Hall will add depth. If we get Findlayson that would also be great. If nothing else then we've still done well. Add Josh at the end of next year and we have a bloody good list.

Gaff isn't the bees knees. He's very good and I'd of loved to of had him but there's other playters out there. As someone said earlier, just would of been good as he was a FA.

NEXT. His loss. We are building a side that will be a side that will be great side for years.
