I don't think they will get 15 and Burton though as Hawthorn are shroud operators. One or the other.

If the relationship between Port and Wingard really has deteriorated as badly as is being reported, then I reckon Hawthorn will offer them 15 OR Burton and say take it or leave it, because they know Port will have to take it. I suspect they'll probably just offer up Burton since they'll probably need 15 for Scully - I can't imagine the AFL allowing Scully to be traded for 53 as is being bandied about. I'm sure there are AFL rules requiring trades to be done for "fair value". While "fair value" is a fairly subjective, flexible term, it's not THAT flexible.

Stop worrying about Port - just focus on our game - get pick 4 or 5 and pick up a good player. End of story.

This is it. It's like going to an auction - you should have an idea in your head of exactly what you think the place is worth and what you're willing to pay before you even turn up there. You bid up to your limit, then stop - the fact that somebody else is willing to pay more shouldn't spook you into going over your own limit. The SA boys would be nice to have, but we're going to get some very good players with the picks we've already got, so there's no reason to panic into throwing everything at getting those guys. Imagine we give up the lot to land a Lukosius and then he does a knee or foot or whatever in his first year? Don't want to throw our entire best-ever draft hand at one guy and have him end up being Andy Otten or Trent Hentschel.

I think they can but Port probably just made an enemy.

Already the China stuff GC weren't happy about and now this can't see them even wanting to deal with Port

Look, if that was to happen and we ended up with both, I could not care less if we have traded all our draft capital this year and our 2019 1st as I firmly believe in our system, these 2 players + the guys we already have in Milera, Fogarty, Doedee, Gooch etc, we will be set and both these guys can start making an impact in 2019. It would be awesome

Using this model 2017 proved it's the best way to go. We choked in the GF, simple as that. The best teams keep churning their lists yearly. So what if we trade a few so-called stars out. Get good returns and in the end we'll become one hell of a team and club. We don't have the luxury of the top Vic. teams who can steal their kids back for peanuts, year after year.

Crows should hold firm on pick 8 and 16 for pick 4 or 5. Throw in a player if need be but we shouldn't give up 13 imo.
