Sorry for the intrusion. But Twomey was again on SEN this morning saying you were talking to North about swooping 4 for 2.

Who is the apparent target here for you guys?

Because if it isn’t Draper it likely means he gets to us at 7

Twomey is a very trusted source imo. Id take it to the bank the conversations are happening. But who approached who?

No idea. Didnt hear it. Just responding to what the guy said. But for all I know Twomey could have been suckered into rumour mongering to fill in air time. But my impression is Twomey is a rated voice in his knowledge of the draft.
I'm fine to move up if F1 isn't involved. We will need that pick if Wanganeen-Milera elects to join us.

Probably need to get creative with our F3s.

No next year we can trade a further two years of future picks. they changed the rules so we can trade back into next years draft easy enough. Plus many clubs will be looking to potentially trade out and take advantage of the new rules during trade week. Im operating on the assumption the new rules come in next year. Stand corrected obviously if I am wrong.

My impression is he has good contacts and clubs will allow him info to move needles when they wish and give him good info on others

Also it would be no secret our preference would be the home grown lad - despite the noise - so Draper (for me) is a lock for us. Its just a matter whether you think other clubs are willing to take the interstate lad over local as well

Maybe it is Draper and we just don't want to be Rozee'd again

Except it’s totally different to the Rozee draft. It was widely accepted that the first few were going to be generational talents with a clear gap to the next level. In this case we’ll be burning collateral to effectively land back in the exact same talent group that we started in.

The potential discount on trading 2 years ahead will be prohibitive. I wouldn't value Eagles 2026 first any higher than 10-15, a lot can change over 2 years. You've stuffed up if you're relying on trading out picks 2 years in advance, one year is bad enough.

Im not sure the trading of two years worth of picks will achieve anything. To me its the same as pumping money into the economy when inflation is already really high. All its going to do is make everything more expensive. Instead of a player being worth a one or two main draft picks and steak knife pick swaps to get the deal done we will see players swell in value to 3 and 4 main picks and a few pick swaps.

All I know is, Port and Geelong are 12 months away from throwing every pick out for trade they can.

Twomey has said pick 1 is down to FOS or Lalor, so maybe we’ve got wind of Lalor being available and are after pick 2 just in case?
I'm guessing there is a player we consider the clear #1 pick, and we want a trade deal in place (for pick #2) ready to pull the trigger if Richmond pick any other player.

AFL draft equivalent of ASX options trading.

Think we're grasping at straws here, multiple scenarios, we're in the dark!

The other scenario is maybe we're trying to get ahead of Carlton because we rate one of FOS or Draper higher and Blues are rumoured to take that player

Just my opinion here, it's FOS

Don't like the idea of moving up if North are taking Tauru regardless, one or FOS/Draper will be there

Ngl I’ve just got this feeling that Draper isn’t on the board at pick , and as good as everyone else around that pick is, I would be disappointed if we didn’t get him.
